2015-16 AT A GLANCE We are deeply grateful to everyone who made donations towards the Fettes Foundation in 2015-16 (to 31st August 2016). “As fundraising for the magnificent new Spens Building drew to a close, the Fettes Foundation’s priorities shifted towards raising funds for the Pavilion Restoration Project, increasing philanthropic support towards bursaries and securing unrestricted donations which enable Trustees to direct funds in line with College priorities. These wonderful results show that the Fettes Community responded most generously and that we continue to receive support at all levels from Old Fettesians, parents past and present and other friends, staff and former staff from across the globe. College Chapel Bells Refurbished For much of the past nine years very little noise has emanated from the Bell-Tower. However, in January 2016 bell-ringing once again returned as an activity. Our budding Fettesian campanologists are dedicated and enthusiastic, enjoying the new skills they have learnt from local bell-ringers. On Founder’s Day 2016, they were delighted to ring the bells to announce Chapel, some 60 years after their predecessors first did so.
THE DIFFERENCE GIFTS MAKE Donations from our loyal and generous Fettes Community in 2015-2016 have made a noticeable difference in a variety of areas. Each and every donation shows what cumulative giving can achieve for Fettesians on a daily basis. Thank you to all of our supporters who made the following projects possible. 12
Chapel Choir Tour to Hong Kong Last summer the Fettes Chapel Choir journeyed to Hong Kong for the Chapel Choir Tour, performing in a variety of venues including St John’s Cathedral, All Saints’ Cathedral, Chung Chi College Chapel (Chinese University) and Diocesan Boys’ School. The Choir excelled themselves on every level and have already been invited to go back!
Pupils on the tour were lucky to receive support from the Fettes Community when they were in Hong Kong. Thank you to Urosh Teodorovich (Inv-Ki 2001-2008), Jerome Barty Taylor (Inv-Ki 2000-2005), Andy Ng (Ki 2000-2004) and the Galloway family to name just a few. Many would not have had the opportunity to join the tour without the support of donors, to whom we are tremendously grateful. “It was fabulous to see so much of Hong Kong but our musical achievements were amazing. We improved so much during our tour and came back to the new school year with higher standards and closer friendships.” Member of the Chapel Choir 13
