43 42 The programs of the Historic Center of Mexico City Foundation have benefited more than 11,930 Persons who have improved their quality of life through counseling, outreach or community interventions in neighborhoods, schools and public places. a total of 60,384 sUPPorT services are provided to consolidate the stability of the people served. 806,410 Persons took part in various activities that the cultural programs of the Foundation conducted.
(Neighbor’s house) fUndaciÓn del cenTro HisTÓrico de la ciUdad de méxico, a.c. (Historic Center of Mexico City Foundation) is the cultural space of the Fundación del Centro Histórico de la Ciudad de México, a.C. it conceives itself as a specialized laboratory in production, mounting and research of contemporary art, not as a traditional exhibition space. it works based on the “studio” format, understanding that the mounting of exhibitions is a continuous experimentation process. Thus, its objective is not to present finished artistic products, but rather provide the necessary infrastructure and financing to collaborate with the investigation of invited artists. The projects they support become part of the Documentation Center archive, which also offers bibliography and specialized magazines. Casa vecina (Neighbor’s house) attempts to become an encounter and dialogue space with several communities based on its research and link programs, and it is also a kind entrance to find contemporary art. Was incorporated in 2002 to join the revitalization Plan of the Historical Downtown area, initiative headed by Mr. Carlos Slim Helú. Since its creation, the Foundation has implemented programs to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of the Historical Downtown area, that have been translated to the creation of jobs, safety in public spaces, quality health services and a wide cultural offer. at present, the Foundation is working in two strategic zones: the Historical Downtown of the Cuauhtémoc Borough and “las Pensiles” in the Miguel Hidalgo Borough. it works with the following programs:
the labor opportunities of youth; local commUniTarian develoPmenT, that carries out interventions in communitarian spaces in order to promote a healthy and free of violence life; social develoPmenT, that offers psychological and education services; the cUlTUral ProGram has two axes: a) TradiTions, exHibiTions and conTesTs, through which exhibitions are made in public spaces and events to preserve Mexican traditions, and b) casa vecina, space that contributes to the revitalization of the historic center to promote links between contemporary art and the various audiences who visit the heart of the city.

Plaza mariana alliance carlos slim foUndaTion and Grameen TrUsT To GranT social micro-crediTs a fund was created to support the restoration of the Historical Downtown area of Mexico City, through an integral program for the conservation of historical buildings, management of sustainable tourism and education of visitors. carlos slim foUndaTion donated the Plaza Mariana to the archdiocese Mexico City; this architecture triggers the road, urban and pastoral infrastructure surrounding the Basilica of Our lady of Guadalupe. With a
, Plaza Mariana contributes to the revitalization of this important area of Mexico City. Credits focused on productive activities of marginated areas of Oaxaca, Puebla and Zacatecas. There are 14 brancHes and
24,500 crediTs have been granted. acHievemenTs • The project has a crysTal cross that divides the 4 main bodies of the Plaza: evanGelizaTion cenTer, colUmbario (with capacity for 120,441 niches), GUadalUPano mUseUm and a markeT with more than 1,000 shops, that relocates the peddlers. In addition, it has a dining room, area for pilgrims, nursery and rest room services.
