Pinus torreyana - Torrey pine. Soledad pine. 5 needles. Native to a very restricted range in southern California, confined to low coastal bluffs flanking the Soledad Valley north of San Diego. Altitude 150 metres. The needles are a blue grey colour. A relic pine, rare in cultivation. Will stand our coastal winds. We have two plants the oldest growing in strong salt winds is 10 metres high x 6 metres wide in 15 years. A younger one in a slightly more sheltered spot (cutting grown) is 2 metres high x 1.5 metres wide in 5 years with a good apical dominant leader. Cedar Lodge text.
