purpose, the words "foreign language" and "technology use" were
searched together in the search engine of the YÖK National Dissertation
Center electronic database and all theses written in the related field were
reached.
Findings and discussion
The postgraduate dissertations on the use of technology in foreign
language teaching submitted in Turkey between 2010-2016 and screened
in YÖK National Thesis Center database. When evaluated according to
the types of theses, it is seen that 19 master's theses were done in 2014
and the second 17 master's theses were made in 2015. The situation in
the doctoral thesis is as follows; In 2010 and 2011, one doctoral thesis
was published, which showed a high increase in 2012 and five doctoral
theses were published. In 2013 there was a sudden drop in the number
of doctoral thesis publications and one publication was made. In the
following years, this situation increased by 1 point and decreased by 1
point and fluctuations in the publication graph of doctoral dissertations
on the use of technology in foreign language teaching were encountered.
If you have to list the distribution of the thesis according to the types and
years, the most graduate thesis in the field will be the graduate thesis
with 19 in 2014, 201 in the first, 2015 in the second, 2010 in the third,
8 in the 2012, 5 in 2013 and 2016 in the fifth place, and 2011 in the last
place with 4 graduate thesis. There is an equality in the number of
publications of postgraduate theses in 2013 and 2016. In his doctoral
dissertations, while 2012 was ranked first with five doctoral theses, he
ranked second with three doctoral theses in 2016 and followed in 2014
with the number of 2 publications. One doctorate thesis has been
published in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2015. According to the chart, one
doctorate and eight master's thesis in 2010, one doctorate and four
master's thesis in 2011, five doctorate and seven master's thesis in 2012,
one doctorate and five master's thesis in 2013, two doctorate in 2014, 19
masters thesis, 1 doctorate in 2015 and 17 masters thesis, and finally 3
doctorate and 5 masters thesis in 2016 were uncovered with this
research. Within the scope of the research, a total of 14 doctoral and 65
masters theses were reached.
The authors of the postgraduate dissertations prepared to
determine whether or not they will differ according to the genders of
interest in this research area are examined according to the genders of
the authors. In this context, when the data in chart two is examined, it
is determined that 38 male and 41 female researchers prepared a
postgraduate thesis in this subject between 2010-2016. According to
this, it seems that female researchers are more than male researchers.
However, when we analyze according to the level of graduate education,
there are differences in this situation. So that male researchers prepare
eight doctorate theses in 2010-2016, while female researchers prepare
six doctorate thesis during this period. When dealing with the number of
master's theses, female researchers prepared a total number of
postgraduate theses, and 35 female researchers prepared high thesis
while male researchers prepared 30 master thesis. Within these findings,
it can be said that male researchers are more interested in doctoral
studies on technology use in foreign language teaching than female
researchers.
