Design Process Once customer needs and project concerns were established, ideas were developed to create a solution. Narrowed list based on key points. - needed permanent power source. No batteries to replace. - hidden behind switch plate - energy efficient. Only on when needed.
Used the CIA method to narrow our choices to three. Used the CIA method to narrow our choices to three. Took best features from each remaining idea to combine into our product design. Among these were; - hard-wired to household electricity. - LED behind the switch plate bright enough to shine through. - photo cell to ensure energy efficiency.
Created Gantt-chart to determine remaining steps and to set dead lines. Created Gantt-chart to determine remaining steps and to set dead lines. Divided up the remaining work load and set to developing a prototype. Through some circuitry tinkering, the prototype team came up with an alpha and beta prototype.

Prototype Photocell LED Single throw AC switch
Schematic The prototype works by turning on the LED in the absence of ambient light.
Display Prototype The prototype switch along with a light is mounted in an example wall setup. We have added decorative wall paneling to the wall to increase the wall’s aesthetic appeal.
