  • WHEN DID EPHRAIM DEPART FROM JUDAH?

  • READ: 1 KINGS 12:25-30

  • 25 Jeroboam built Shechem in the mountains of Ephraim, and dwelt there. Also he went out from there and built Penuel.

  • 26 Jeroboam said in his heart, "Now the kingdom may return to the house of David:

  • 27 If these people go up to offer sacrifices in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then the heart of this people will turn back to their lord, Rehoboam king of Judah, and they will kill me and go back to Rehoboam king of Judah."

  • 28 Therefore the king asked advice, made two calves of gold, and said to the people, "It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Here are your gods, O Israel, which brought you up from the land of Egypt!“

  • 29 He set up one in Bethel, and the other he put in Dan.

  • 30 Now this thing became a sin, for the people went to worship before the one as far as Dan.

  • READ: EXODUS 8:21-24

  • 21 If you will not let My people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies on you and your servants, on your people and into your houses. The houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground on which they stand.

  • 22 In that day I will set apart the land of Goshen, in which My people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there, in order that you may know that I am the LORD in the midst of the land.

  • 23 I will make a difference between My people and your people. Tomorrow this sign shall be."'“

  • READ: 2 KINGS 23:31-34

  • 32 He did evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.

  • 33 Pharaoh Necho put him in prison at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem. He imposed on the land a tribute of one hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.

READ: 2 CHRONICLES 35:20-24

  • 20 When Josiah had prepared the temple, Necho king of Egypt came up to fight against Carchemish by the Euphrates; and Josiah went out against him.

  • 21 But he sent messengers to him, saying, "What have I to do with you, king of Judah? I have not come against you this day, but against the house with which I have war; for God commanded me to make haste. Refrain from meddling with God, who is with me, lest He destroy you.“

  • 22 Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself so that he might fight with him, and did not heed the words of Necho from the mouth of God. So he came to fight in the Valley of Megiddo.

  • 23 And the archers shot King Josiah; and the king said to his servants, "Take me away, for I am severely wounded.“

  • 24 His servants therefore took him out of that chariot and put him in the second chariot that he had, and they brought him to Jerusalem. So he died, and was buried in one of the tombs of his fathers. And all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah. NKJV
