The emergence of the simplest form of the internal market belongs to the earliest stage of the
development of the commodity economy based on the division of labor, where everything
intended for sale is sold by the producer from hand to hand to the buyer. The producer of the
goods is also its seller, and the buyer is the final consumer, who immediately buys and pays for
the goods. The development of production and commodity-money relations stimulated the
expansion of internal markets and helped to form national markets. This was accompanied by the
processes of specialization of domestic markets, where retail markets were separated from
wholesale markets, and commodity markets were separated from production factor markets. The
main difference between the national market and the domestic market is that there is a segment on
it aimed at foreign buyers, that is, there is a foreign market.
Today, the government of Azerbaijan is well aware that in order to protect the domestic market, it
is necessary to direct local raw materials to production. In order to protect the domestic
production market, first of all, artificial price increase in products should be prevented. Obviously,
this can be achieved by making maximum use of internal potential and raw materials. For this
purpose, we should direct local raw materials to production rather than sales. Production of goods
with local raw materials should be ensured. The main goal of President Ilham Aliyev's economic
strategy is the diversification of the country's economy and the complete elimination of the
economy's dependence on the oil factor. For this, industry, agriculture and tourism should be
developed. In addition to the above, reducing the country's dependence on imports, strengthening
the export potential, and producing competitive goods should also be an important factor. In the
economy of Azerbaijan, the large specific weight of the oil sector still leads to the predominance
of oil and oil products in export products. Increasing the production of competitive export
products should be one of the most important steps to transform our country from an exporter of
raw materials to an exporter of finished products and bring foreign currency to the country.
The article is devoted to the analysis of the protection of the internal market in the conditions of
digitalization of the national economy. In the study, the issue of the need to protect the internal
market in the context of globalization was clarified, the state control mechanisms of the protection
of the internal market in the digital economy were studied.
