  1. TITLE OF EVENT:

European Continental Children and Cadets Sumo Championships 2015

  • Children under 12 years (MU12/WU12) November, 6

  1. PURPOSE:

To develop and promote sumo in Europe and to establish mutual friendship and goodwill among participating countries. The reunification of the European sumo family.

  1. ELIGIBILITY:

  • Member countries of EFS and countries approved by European Sumo Federation.

  • Participants will be girl and boys born between the years of

  • 2005 to 2003 /U12/;

  • 2004 to 2001 /U14/;

  • 2002 to 1999 /U16/.

9. TRAVEL EXPENSES:

Each individual Federation is responsible for the all travel costs incurred in the transportation including visa application.



The organizer will provide transportation from the Tallinn Lennart Meri International Airport (TLL) and Rakvere railway station to the place of registration in Rakvere.

The organizer will also provide transportation from the places of accommodation outside the town of Rakvere to the place of competition and back.


  1. ACCOMMODATION and MEAL EXPENSES:

Official accommodation shall be 5 days 4 nights which start from the arrival on Thursday, November 5 to the departure date on Monday, November 9, 2015.

The organiser provides accommodation in two price categories as follows:

Reservation deadline for official accommodation is October 1, 2015.


If participants do not use official accommodation provided by the organizer, they will be required to pay a fee of 200 € per person at accreditation.


  1. REGISTRATION

Registration requirements for the tournament:

  1. The attached competition application forms are to be filled in with capital letters and to be sent on the e-mail addresses of the European Sumo Federation and the organizing committee:

Entries will only be accepted on official entry forms. Uncompleted forms will not be accepted.

  1. Pre-registration is open from September 5 to October 16, 2015

Deadline October 16, 2015

  1. Nominal registration is open from October 16 to 30, 2015

The final application deadline for athlete participation is October 30, 2015.

  1. Place of registration, accreditation, draw, weigh-in:

For the accreditation, only the delegation leader is requested to be present.

  1. At the official control of nations the names submitted are final and all fees paid at this time are not refundable.

  1. COMPETITION RULES

  1. The competition will be carried out according to the IFS requlations together with application of the double repechage system.

  2. Mawashi (sumo belt) approved by the European Sumo Federation must be worn.

  3. Male athletes U12 and U14 age group may wear only black tight underpants under mawashi. The length of the underpants must cover the whole thigh.

  4. All male athletes U16 will wrestle in MAWASHI ONLY.

  5. All female athletes must wrestle in a one-piece wresling leotard plus mawashi. Women may not compete, wearing T-shirts.

Each contestant is responsible for bringing his own mawashi and underpants.

NB! Mawashis can be also bought (a´25 €) or borrowed (a´5 €) from the organizer.

  1. All mawashi must conform to international regulations, if not, it is possible that the mawashi will be invalid for the tournament and another mawashi may have to be used by the wrestler. If at the discretion of the refereeing director a suitable substitute mawashi cannot be found and used within a reasonable amount of time, the athlete may have to forfeit the match. Also, all mawashi must be dry and not wet and made of recognised fabric.

  2. Provided by the organizer country identification (Zekken) must be worn.

  3. The team for the Team Competition /U16/ shall consist of 4 contestants: first (Senpo), second (Chuken), third (Taiso) and substitute. There will be no weight limits.

A substitute may be used only once.

For the team event there must be a minimum of two wrestlers.



  1. Age groups and weight categories

Quantity of participants from a country as follows:

GIRLS (born 2003-2005) WU12:

-30kg (2); -33kg (2); -36kg (2); -40kg (2); -45kg (2); -50kg (2); -55kg (2); -60kg (2); +60kg (2).



BOYS (born 2003-2005) MU12:

-30kg (2); -35kg (2); -40kg (2); -45kg (2); -50kg (2); -55kg (2); -60kg (2); -65kg (2); +65kg (2).



GIRLS (born 2001-2004) WU14:

-33kg (2); -36kg (2); -40kg (2); -45kg (2); -50kg (2); -55kg (2); -60kg (2); -65kg (2); +65kg (2);



BOYS (born 2001-2004) MU14:

-35kg (2); -40kg (2); -45kg (2); -50kg (2); -55kg (2); -60kg (2); -65kg (2); -70kg (2); +70kg (2).



GIRLS (born 1999-2002) WU16:

-45kg (2), -50kg (2), -55kg (2), -60kg (2), -65kg (2), +65kg (2), Team (1).



BOYS (born 1999 2002) MU16:

-55kg (2), -65kg (2), -75kg (2), -85kg (2), -95kg (2), +95kg (2), Team (1).




  1. FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS

Entry fee will be charged for all athletes mentioned in the official entry form.

For all participants: 10 EUR per wrestler in each weight category;



Team tournament /U16/: 50 EUR per team

Annual membership fee for 2015: 150 EUR per national sumo union



All fees are paid to the organizer at registration and accreditation upon arrival in cash only and are non-refundable.


  1. SPECIAL NOTE

  1. All visa applications must be sent to the Estonian Sumo Association, preferably well in advance

  2. Tournament registration to be sent to the organizer only.

  3. Compulsory Referee seminar on November 5, 2015 at 17:00-18:00. All referees must obtain their EFS tournament licence 2015 at the seminar.

  4. By the control of nations there has to be at least one representative from the registering federation.

  5. At the draw there has to be one representative per federation. After the draw there can be no changes made. If the representative misses the draw, no pretentions concerning the result of the draw will be accepted.

  6. The organizers shall provide first aid for injuries sustained during the championships but shall not be held liable for such injuries or any other accidents. The organizer will not be able to treat any other ailments not due to injury (such as headache or stomach-ache). Consequently, each contestants or official must arrange personal travel insurance and insurance against illness, death and accident.

  1. REMARKS

  • Competitions start with girls first from light weight.

  • Repechage in each weight category will start immediately after the preliminary rounds.

  • Awarding ceremony will be held immediately after all fights for the day.

  • At the awarding ceremony all the medal winners must wear a mawashi and a zekken.
