  • Onomatopoeia (on-o-mat- o-PEA-a)

  • is the imitation of natural sounds in word form. These words help us form mental pictures about things, people, or places.

  • E.g. boom, buzz, crackle, gurgle, hiss, pop, sizzle, snap, swoosh, whir, zip
