distinguished by the compass lines radiating across the
sea areas of the map.

In the history of the house of Blaeu this Tycho
Brahe suite of prints is unique. Tycho Brahe
is one of the truly great figures in the history
of astronomy. The founder of the company
Willem Janszoon Blaeu (1571 – 1638) studied
cartographic science for six months in the
early 1590’s underTycho Brahe at the latter’s
observatory at Uraniborg on the Danish Island of Hven. As a tribute, William’s son Joan published in 1659 and later in
his monumental “Atlas Major” this set of maps, plans, views and instruments relating to Tycho Brahe. Also included in
this collection are the seven maps of Denmark by Blaeu. A complete set including the extra maps and not contained in an
atlas, this is a collection seldom offered for sale.
All maps and prints are in an excellent condition.

with a dedication to Prince Christian who became King Christian V in 1670. The map depicts Norway up to Senja. Latin
