Applicability of ERP Systems in Universities:
EBS - An Example from Sakarya University
Abstract
ERP systems are integrated systems that corporations use to get advantage in global
competition environment. As usage of ERP systems expand, they are not solutions for
manufacturing only, but also finding users in different areas such as hospital management and
student management. In this study, the system called “EBS” used in Sakarya University is
discussed whether to be considered as an ERP or not, strong and weak features of the system
are examined as well. In this context, senior managers and IT staff are asked their opinions
about the system, the results from interviews with senior managers and software experts and
system administrators are given in the study.
