UPG ADV Payments
What is License? L = License/Upgrade (desktop OS) - Replaces multiple Licensing SKUs(Standard license, V/U, C/U, P/U, and Language UPG)

What is Upgrade Advantage? Adding Upgrade Advantage to the Open License gets you the most current version of a product and keeps you current for 2 years or until the end of Open Auth. number whichever comes first Best option is to obtain new authorization number with UA UA is only available until July 31st, 2002 UA Agreements will be automatically enrolled into SA after July 31st and remain in place until end of term of authorization number The ONLY difference between offering UA and SA is the current status of the client. - Current: SA

What is Software Assurance? Like UA: Provides upgrades and updates through enrollment term only in Volume Licensing
What is Software Assurance? Cont. Must be purchased with the License (L&SA package), with the following exceptions: - Renewal of SA – after your existing SA term expires. 90 days to renew.

- Launch Grace Period October 1, 2001- July 31, 2002

Payment timing
FPP for OS Keeping Upgrades For Windows XP, full and upgrade only SA will be offered for OEM/Retail OS within 90 days of purchase of that OS IF client has Open Auth #. There is no SA for XP Home Linux is NOT a qualifying upgrade OS Refer to the Windows XP migration map for details.
Keeping Upgrades OEM & Retail licenses for ANY application products are NOT ELIGIBLE for Software Assurance Key differences between Office XP in OEM & Retail, and volume licensing media Office media thru WWF & Select CDs will include features not in OEM & retail media Office OEM & Retail media will not work with enterprise deployment tools
OEM OS - SA will be offered for OEM/Retail OS within 90 days of purchase of that OS

Summary: inform your customers Identify non-current Licenses and purchase UA before July, 31st. Start a new auth. number to take advantage of full 24 months of UA. UA to be grandfathered into SA Identify Current Licenses and enroll in SA before July 31st. If nothing is done before July 31st, they must purchase L or L&SA. For new licenses, L or L&SA- Look at upgrade path for each product
