Whilst his portrait is rather static, the Muse is wonderfully ‘Art Nouveau’.

Strauss was appointed President of the Reichsmusikkammer in 1933, and although he composed the “Olympische Hymne” for the 1936 

Olympics he had lost his position by the time the Games opened.
