The Australian National University Annual Report 2000
50
Patsy PAYNE presented an exhibition of digital prints
from CSA in Taipei, in association with an Internation-
al Print Symposium. An exhibition of glass from the
Canberra School of Art Glass Workshop toured to
Hsinchu and Singapore. A collection of work of past
and present students and staff from CSA’s Gold and Sil-
versmith Workshop, was exhibited at the Deutsches
Goldschmiedehaus, Hanau in Germany and in Nantou
and Tainan in Taiwan.
All these high profile activities, together with record en-
rolments in the Visual Arts Access program, have
reflected most favourably on the School, the University
and Canberra. Further initiatives in these areas are being
planned. Assistance from the ACT Government cultur-
al program for these kinds of activities has been
appreciated.
Canberra School of Music
For the first time, the CSM integrated the Masterschool
of the Canberra International Chamber Music Festival
into its curricular activities. A CSM woodwind ensem-
ble presented a concert for the Festival conducted by
Jeffrey Crellin, Principal Oboe with the Melbourne
Symphony Orchestra.
The School played host to GlobalFreeway Australian
Youth Orchestra’s New Music Now workshop. Various
CSM staff tutored in other programs offered by this or-
ganisation, and the CSM was consulted in discussions
around their e-Learning Project.
