Teaching in established programs/institutions:
Dr. Quesenberry has also mentored many college and medical students and residents for shorter time frames and has been the P.I. on a successful hematology training grant at the University of Virginia. He has been on the thesis committees of Dr. Sussie Nilsson, Lionel D’Hondt, and Suzanne Micallef. He continues to interact productively with most of his previous students and mentees.
He has maintained a particular focus on mentoring junior investigators, with the most recent including Drs Colvin, Abedi, Moore and Cerny.


  • Basmaa Ali – Hospitalist at RWMC who is currently in our Laboratory for research experience. Graduate of University of Illinois with board certification in Internal Medicine.

  • Babak Robert Bina – Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Quesenberry served as Teaching Physician for one month in our Laboratory for a Graduate Medical Education Elective Rotation November 1-30, 2002.

  • Michael Barretti – Fourth year student at Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine performed his Hematology/Oncology rotation from September 16 – October 13, 2002 under the direction of Gerald Colvin, DO and Peter J. Quesenberry, MD.

  • Jan Cerny – A postdoctoral fellow in our Laboratory who also performed his first rotation as a resident for a research (elective) rotation for the month of July 2003.

  • Reem Beckerly –University of New England Osteopathic Clinical Clerk in Medicine. Dr. Quesenberry served as Teaching/Attending Physician for Reem from 2/11/02 – 3/22/02.

  • Hannah Hebert – A resident at Roger Williams Medical Center. Dr. Quesenberry served as Teaching/Attending Physician for Hannah’s elective rotation in Research from 2/1/03 – 2/28/03.

  • Mudassir Ilyas Malik – A second year intern from the Michael Reese Hospital of Medicine. He completed a one-month research rotation with Dr. Quesenberry in our Laboratory in July 2002.

  • Diane Paggioli – A Resident at Roger Williams Medical Center. Completed a one-month elective research rotation with Dr. Quesenberry from 1/3/03 – 1/31/03.

  • Jeffrey Pimentel – A Biology Major at Providence College. He completed an internship in our Laboratory for the Spring Semester of 2002 and also from 12/18/02 – 1/15/03. Upon graduation, he was hired as a Research Assistant by Dr. Quesenberry to work in our Laboratory.

  • Nathaniel Slater – Clinical Clerk from University of New England Osteopathic Medicine. Completed a one-month research rotation with Dr. Quesenberry as his preceptor from 5/12/03 – 6/20/03.
