THE PROBLEM OF HISTORICAL MEMORY IN PROSE AND
ITS SCIENTIFIC AND THEORETICAL COMPREHENSION 
 
Summary
The notion of historical memory is revealed in the article. The standpoints of 
different literary critics as the Azerbaijani and world literature to the problem of 
historical memory are considered. An interest to the above problem in the literature, 
as well as in scientific and theoretical thought is increasingly growing in the years of 
independence. The history of the people, its ethnography, and the national 
consciousness are provided to the center of scientific research again. In this period 
the sense of the national consciousness is strengthen, language, religion, historical 
memory are increased and mental values are gotten particular importance, the ethnic 
consciousness is being formed and entering a new stage.
