participants will walk through the review of sample abstracts with ISEF SRC members.

32–So, You Want to be an Astronaut?
Mike Melvill, Fellow, Society of Experimental Test Pilots (SETP), Tehachapi, CA
On June 21, 2004, Mike Melvill piloted SpaceShipOne into space, making history as the 
world’s 434th astronaut and first recipient of commercial astronaut’s wings conferred 
by the FAA. As an example of the “ultimate science fair project” that brought human 
spaceflight within reach of private enterprise, Melvill presents the incredible journey 
of SpaceShipOne from initial concept to culminating spaceflight.
