We the full body of the hamerman traid finding this Gorg Wilsone guiltie of ane great fault qll was never practised befor by any prentisse and the fault is for disobeying the Comandement of God that is to say Thou sall not Steall and this forsaid Gorg Wilson have stollen away his Indentur from Robert Hamiltone his Master and efter he Comitted such ane fault did rune away from his Masters service. Therfor it is apoynted by the traid this man befor he entered free Master that he sall pay tuentie pund to the traid and give satisfactione to his Maater this is done and written qyon the 19 day of Maij 1660.

Whilk day compeirit in presence of Thomas Henderson present Deacon of the Hammermen William Smyth blacksmith hail ane aprentis entered wyof name was Robert Mathew son to Georg Mathew in brechene who hes become prenteis to the said williame Smyth for the space of five compleit zears according to the indenture mad at binell and mad his is vow before the Deacone & Trade convenit togidder the same and hes given his oath if fidelitie and verity to be ane dutifull prentis and servant to his Master and this I do subscribe with my hand Day and dait forsaid.

Compeared David Maxwell laull sone to umql Thomas Maxwell in ye paroch of Tilling and entered himself prentis to Richard Cock Blacksmith and free master in ye said Trade who his promised fidelitie to his said Maister and the said Richard Cock is teach him in intill soe points of his Calling and Trade as and soe Lyes in his power and for such form for dentt of his prentise for the space of five compleet years and year for meat and fie and hath given his oath in presence of said craft and irto his mark heretro under the Clerk of ye Trades hand.

(By the mandate of the said Thomas Stewart, who knows not the art of writing and thus has asserted that by his hand I James (surname indistinct) Notary Public and Clerk on his behalf do now subscribe (signed) James (?). (This suggests that the Clerk would have earlier obtained a mandate from Tom marked with his mark/cross)

And the said Apprentice has given his faithfull promise to his Master and remanent Members of Trade that he shall observe the whole statutes made or to be made anent free Apprentices of the said Trade. in Witness whereof the said Andren Smith has subscribed these pnts Place Day moneth and Year of God forsd.

And that Conform to the Acts and Statures made by the Hammerman Trade Recorded in this Book. The said Apprentice had given his faithfull Promise to his Master and the Deacon an other Members of the Trade Convened That he shall Observe the whole Statutes made or to be made by the said Hammerman Trade anent free apprentices. Compeared John Paterson lawful son of the deceased John Paterson Weaver at Scouring burn and was entered a Coppersmith in Dundee for the years mentioned in the Indenture entered into between them & produced to the Trade And that conform to the Acts & Statutes made by the Trade recorded in this book. The said John Paterson having been a Burser in Rogers Mortification in this Burgh & paid Trade Ten shillings sterling as the dues for entering him a free Apprentice. And he has also given his promise to his Master and the Deacon & other Members of the Trade convened That he shall observe the whole statutes made or to be made by the Hammerman Trade anent free apprentices And has subscribed these presents in face of the Trade place & date as above.

Compeared personally David Thomson Smith in Fowles and was admitted and received a free member as a farrier and Shoer of Horses in the said Burgh. Both he and his Representatives and free apprentices after him being burgesses as use is the said David Thomson has given his Oath of fidelity to the Trade in common form and subscribed these presents in face of the Trade place and date as above.

Which day James Miln lawful son of Robert Miln Manufacturer in Dundee was entered a free Apprentice in the Hammerman Trade as a Clock and Watchmaker on production to the Hammerman Trade now assembled of an Indenture entered into between him and William Young Clockmaker in Dundee for the space of five years from the Seventh day of October eighteen hundred & eighteen dated the thirtieth day of January last. The said John Miln having paid the Boxmaster Three pounds three shillings Sterling as the dues of Booking him a free Apprentice and given his promise to his Master, the Deacon & other Members of the Trade now convened that he shall observe the whole Statutes made or to be made by the Hammerman Trade anent free apprentices. And has subscribed these presents along with the Deacon and Boxmaster.
