ROI
A ROI (Region Of Interest) is a fragment of spectrum of special interest, since it
contains a peak or group of peaks. It is defined uniquely by two parameters:
channel number at the beginning of the region and channel number of the end of
the region – both channels belong to the region.

ROI regions
The program uses the idea of "working region of interest". It is a part of the
spectrum contained between markers together with the channels, where the
markers are set. For such region, the program continually calculates and displays
the parameters using 
on-line method of analysis
 These parameters are
calculated after each change of the marker position or after each change of data.
Working region of interest does not belong to the ROI table.
Table of ROI
 can be built manually or automatically by the command 
Peak
search
By default, ROI are shown as color-filled area under the spectrum, but this
indication can be turned off. Parameters of all the ROI are placed in the peak
table, at 
ROI parameters' panel
 and are displayed only if markers are set
exactly at the first and the end channel of ROI.
All commands concerned with ROI can be invoked from icons placed on toolbar,
from main menu or context menu of spectrum panel:

ROI
Command Hide ROI does not change the structure of ROI on the spectrum; it
changes only the color filling. After command execution either icon appearance
and command name (Show ROI) changes. Renewed command execution will
make ROI area visible again. 
Analysis – general principles

ROI Table
Table of ROI contains the set of 
ROI
 marked on a spectrum. It can be built
automatically by executing the command 
Peak search
 or manually. 
Table of ROI can be saved in a separate ASCII file (default extension ".roi") and
then moved to the next measured spectra.
Based on this table, program automatically builds peak table which contains
calculated peak parameters.

Inserting and editing ROI
To introduce a new ROI, set the 
markers
 at the chosen part of the spectrum
and then:

Saved ROI is highlighted; a number is assigned to it and shown in the left part of
ROI panel. Each new ROI is added to the table of ROI, such that the whole table
is sorted by the first channel number of ROI.
ROI can be nested and overlapping; but the same ROI cannot be saved in the
table twice.
Editing ROI
Program does not offer any special editing mechanisms for ROI, because peak
parameters are simultaneously displayed in the panel of ROI under the spectrum
and saved in the table of ROI. 
Therefore, if the region is incorrect, delete it, set the new markers; the new table
of ROI will be saved automatically.
Delete one ROI
To delete a single ROI, set the

Fast selection of ROI
ROI parameter panel, shown below the spectrum, consists of two parts:
navigational and parameters of ROI. The total number of ROI in the spectrum (in
brackets) and number of ROI on which markers are currently set, are displayed in
the navigation part. Current number of ROI is preceded by # sign; if the field after
this sign is empty, it means that markers are not at the borders of ROI. 
If markers are not set for ROI, then in the parameters field, the parameters of 
working ROI
 are displayed; if markers are set at ROI, then the parameters
taken from the peak table are displayed.
Program offers mechanism of fast switching of markers for the chosen ROI with
buttons in navigation panel, icons, and keyboard.

Execution of the above commands sets the markers at the found ROI and
displays its parameters from the peak table.
In the case of Prev ROI, ROI closest to the right marker is searched, for the Next
ROI the area to the left one is searched.

For ROI files, program assigns standard extension ".roi". ROI borders are saved.

After reading the table of ROI, program automatically calculates peak parameters
(using "on-line" method) and saves them to the peak table.
The operation of saving of the ROI table may simplify the analysis of the set of
measured spectra, if the same ROI are used for the calculation.
