Professional Education Grant
The purpose of the Hawaii (Oahu) ONS Professional Educational Grant Programs is to support professional development in oncology nursing and encourage members to become actively involved in their chapter activities. The Grant Program will provide educational grants, up to $400.00 for the following:
• Cancer-related continuing education programs
• Oncology Nursing Society Certification.
Criteria:
The applicant must meet four (4) of the seven (7) criteria listed below: (check all that apply).
( ) Currently employed as a staff nurse, office, or clinical manager, CNS, NP, in
an oncology setting.
( ) Two or more years experience in Oncology Nursing
( ) Demonstrate active involvement in Hawaii (Oahu) ONS Chapter as evidenced
by participating in local ONS committees, or contributes to the chapter
Newsletter.
( ) Demonstrates commitment to professional development as evidenced by
attendance of CEU programs offered by Hawaii (Oahu) ONS Chapter.
( ) Promotes chapter membership by recruiting nurses to join local chapter of
ONS.
( ) Demonstrates professional excellence as evidenced by article published;
participation in development of patient care standards; development of
posters or other media to promote oncology nursing or patient educational
materials.
( ) Demonstrate professional commitment to oncology nursing as evidenced
by: one (1) year membership in our local chapter and current national
membership, prior to applying for the grant.
Application Requirements:
● Submission of competed application including:

resume (limit to 5 pages)

letter of support from nurse manager/director that demonstrates professional excellence and activities pertinent to grant application
● Submit no later than 10 weeks prior to the program date/certification examination.
● Applicant must not have received a chapter professional education grant for participation within the past two (2) years.
● Application to be submitted to the Nominating Chairperson.
● The applicant will receive notification of grant request within thirty (30) days of receipt of application by the ONS Nomination Chair.
● A check will be issued upon submission of proof of passing the ONS certification examination, submission of an article for the chapter newsletter or confirmation of a presentation at the Chapter meeting of data/skills or information acquired. This is to be completed within thirty (30) days of certification exam or CE program. All communication is to the Nomination Chair.
