The irradiance level(s), at which classification measurements were
performed, shall be
explicitly stated. If the intended use of the solar simulator includes a change of irradiance
levels, classification shall be performed and reported for each level.
–
Date of issue of data sheet;
– Intended use of the solar simulator (electrical performance measurement or irradiance
exposure);
– Actual number of hours on the lamp for continuous solar simulators, or number of flashes
on the bulb for pulsed solar simulators at the time of measurements;
– Statement on which classification has been used (Ed. 2 if backward compatibility is
required);
– Classification of “Spectral match” and information on
which method was used for
evaluation, that of Table 1 (restricted wavelength range) or Table 2 (extended wavelength
range);
– Classification of “Non-uniformity of irradiance”;
– Classification of “Temporal instability” related STI or LTI;
– Methods of measurements used to determine classification categories;
– Value of AM1.5 spectral deviation (SPD);
– Value of AM1.5 spectral coverage (SPC);
– Maximum data acquisition time if used for I-V measurements;
– Operating environment for which the classification is valid (ambient conditions, lamp
power requirements, maximum number of flashes or operations hours);
– Location and nominal area of designated test area at which
the classification was
determined;
– Nominal lamp setting and irradiance levels at which the classes were measured;
– Warm up time for stabilisation of irradiance;
– Table of measured spectral irradiance distribution at 4 locations
with a minimum of one
data point per 10 nm interval in the total wavelength range;
– Table of wavelength dependent measurement uncertainty of spectral irradiance;
– Table of irradiance measured over the designated test area;
– Average and standard deviation of measured irradiance across the designated test area;
– Measured temporal instability of irradiance (STI) and its uncertainty;
– Measured temporal instability of irradiance (LTI) and its uncertainty;
– Sampling rate for measurement of STI and LTI;
– Irradiance profile vs. time of the pulse (for pulsed simulator);
– Data sampling rate (if data acquisition system is included);
– Changes that may require verification of the classification.
Technical data reported according to the list above is expected to be useful for most
solar
simulator applications in the PV industry at present. Some applications may require
characterization of solar simulator characteristics not included in this document, for example,
the angularly resolved irradiance in the test plane (beam collimation).
