Conclusion on Chapter I
As we have seen above the notion of ability has a wide range of meaning. In linguistics to express exactly this notion, especially in the English language,we can see some categories, for example the modal verbs. Modality is a category of linguistic meaning having to do with the expression of ability, possibility necessity and so on.
The topicality of this work is caused by the necessity to improve knowledge about the term modality and its expression. The problem of modality is relevant to the modern science, has along been interested in the humanities scholars working in different research fields. Also in linguistic science modal words and word-combintions are considered to be one of the controversial at lexico-grammatical level attract the attention of scientists from the second half of the twentieth century. However, the modal words have not still been fully explained due to their complexity, specificity of language expression and functual features.
As mentioned above, the category of modality has been studied by a number of researchers: G. Musayeva, O. Ahmanov, M. Belyaeva and others. They differentiated the modality into two groups: objective and subjective and together with they also tried to explain the features and their meaning that the modalities include. Also, in the examples which have been claimed above we can see the types, menings, functions and grammar structures of the modal words.

Chapter II Analyses words expressing ability in English
2.1 Modal verbs expressing ability
Ability can be expressed using modal verbs and phrases. Learners often prefer to use be able to because it is the easiest to form. As learners progress, they begin to use can, could, and managed to. It is at this point that learners encounter usage rules and often make mistakes. In this article, I will focus on the most commonly used modals for ability and the most typical mistakes. While the present forms are simple, the past forms have particular rules which must be followed. The most important rules relate to general ability and specific ability. General ability means that a person had the ability to do something at all times and in all situations.
Specific ability means that the person had the ability to do something in a specific situation or at a specific time. We can use modal verbs to talk about ability (either general ability or specific ability in a particular situation). The modal verbs of ability are ‘can’, ‘could’, and ‘be able to’. Ability can be expressed in the past, present, or future.
