14 SE BA ÖN SÖZ Azərbaycan... Bəlli bir tarixi keçmişə bağ- lı, bu günü, gələcəyi daha perspektivli ola bilən dövlətli bir məkan... Bu zamana gəlib çatmaq üçün uzaq bir tarixi yol, çoxsaylı mübarizələrdən keçdi. Azərbaycan qədim və şərəfli tarixə, zəngin təbii və mədəni sərvətlərə malik bir ölkədir. Hər qarış torpağında bir həqiqət gizlənən, hər daş-divarında bir pozulmaz yaddaş yazı- lan Azərbaycan sübut edir ki, o, dünya tarixi- nin qədim beşiyi, mədəniyyət mərkəzi, tarixi abidələr diyarıdır. Bir xalqın, bir millətin ən böyük sərvəti, ən kəsərli silahı onun tarixi və mədəniyyətidir. Xalqımız belə bir qədim tarixi və zəngin mədəniyyəti ilə hər zaman haqlı olaraq qürur duya bilər. Azərbaycanda tarixi abidələrin qo- runması, arxeoloji cəhətdən tədqiqi və öyrənilməsi hər zaman dövlət başçımızın diqqət mərkəzindədir. Bu, həm də xalqın dünəninə, tarixinə verilən qiymətdir. Heç bir xalq öz keçmişini öyrənmədən, onu bilmədən özünü dərk edə, bu gününü və sabahını qura bilməz. Xalqın “işığı” sayılan ziyalı və gələcəyi olan gənclik də belədir; o, öz keçmi- şini bilməlidir, mənsub olduğu xalqın mənəvi dünyası ilə yaxından tanış olmalıdır. Xüsusilə, bu, indiki şəraitdə zamanın qarşıya qoyduğu zəruri tələbdir. İllər ərzində alimlərimizin gərgin araşdırmaları, arxeoloji qazıntıların nəticələri tarixin yeni-yeni səhifələrini açır. Yeni arxeoloji qazıntılar hesabına da tarixin sirr dolu qaranlıq səhifələri işıqlandırıl- maqda davam edəcəkdir. Bu işdə hər bir kəsə yeni-yeni nailiyyətlər diləyirəm. PREFACE Azerbaijan…Rich historical territory, with clear past and more perspective opportuni- ties for today and tomorrow… It passed through a long history and won numerous struggles to reach the present. Azerbaijan has an old and glorious history, and is rich in natural and cultural resources. Each inch of Azerbaijan is mysterious, each stone possesses a memory that cannot be blotted out, which is evidence that Azerbaijan is one of the ancient cradles of world history, culture centres and lands of historical monuments. The greatest wealth and mightiest sword of any nation is its history and culture. The Azer- baijan nation is always fairly proud of its an- cient history and rich culture. The state leader is always concerned about the protection of historical monu- ments of Azerbaijan and their archaeolog- ical surveys. This is the value of the na- tion’s past history. No nation can under- stand itself without studying its past, and live its present and make a future. Enlight- ened people and the youth of nation are also like this; they ought to know their past and be well aware of the morality of the nation they belong to. Today, it is one of the important demands of the time. Scien- tists’ intensive investigations and outcome of archaeological excavations through the years open new pages of history. And they will continue to shed a light upon the mys- terious pages of history with further ar- chaeological excavations. I would like to wish further success to all. Ön söz Preface
