In 1965 the Rank Organisation provided the University with a Bond of Annuity, the money to be used at the discretion of the Court for furthering the study of Hotel Management. The Court resolved to confer the personal title Rank Organisation Professor of Hotel Management on the Director of the Scottish Hotel School.
