Notice of Public Comment Period on Draft Dispersant Avoidance Area Annexes
The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), United States Coast Guard, Environmental Protection Agency, US Department of the Interior, and US Department of Commerce are seeking public input on draft Dispersant Avoidance Area annexes, which will be added to five subarea contingency plans (i.e. Prince William Sound, Cook Inlet, Kodiak, Bristol Bay, and Aleutians) and supplement the Dispersant Use Plan for Alaska (DUPA), Annex F, Appendix I of the Unified Plan. Avoidance Area boundaries and scientific justifications for each are outlined in the draft Dispersant Avoidance Area annex.
Additional information describing outreach efforts, proposed changes, dispersant fact sheets, safety data sheets, Preauthorization Area maps, Avoidance Area maps, and public comment procedures can be found on the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation’s dispersant website at: http://dec.alaska.gov/spar/perp/dispersant.htm
Written comments, suggestions, or questions must be received no later than 5:00 pm on December 1, 2017. Please send all submissions by mail or email to:
