This program is focused on the main factors of development to have a
society without poverty and with better opportunities for all in latin america:
health, education and economic promotion. in this section we present the
achievements made with Clinton-Giustra-Slim Fund to Support Haiti and the
Clinton-Giustra-Slim Sustainable Growth initiative. The following programs
for the region presented in the section on Health should be added to these
actions:
Mesoamerican Health 2015, Carlos Slim Scholarships, Carlos Slim Health
awards, Slim initiative in Genomic Medicine and the Slim initiative for the
Development of vaccines against Tropical Diseases.
For a sustained social development it is fundamental to offer the least favored

carlos slim foUndaTion permanently encourages the on-going practice
of sports at different levels, because asides from the benefits sports activities
have on the health of persons of all ages, they provide the opportunity to young
boys and girls to stay away from addictions such as drugs and alcohol, gangs,
and it also favors family integration.
carlos slim foUndaTion is convinced that sports are a change factor
for society. Sports promote significant life values from early childhood, such
as: team work, fellowship and competitiveness, amongst other. in addition,
through sports,
carlos slim foUndaTion encourages the development
and growth of the least favored sectors of our society. With sports tournaments
such as the TelMeX Cup or the “From the Street to the Field with TelMeX”
tournament in which street children participate, children and youth may have a
better perspective for their growth that allows them to foresee more promising
conditions to achieve their objectives in life and grow as persons integrated to
their families and to their environment.
likewise, with the support of high performance sports programs,
carlos slim
foUndaTion fosters an international competitiveness mentality in Mexicans.
Our country has the capacity to develop athletes able to compete in various
disciplines at world level, and they are a pride and an example to follow by
future generations.
