lic to Armenia. One of the inhuman crimes against Azerbaijan
people was a tragedy of the Khojali town, which was captured by
the Armenia armed forces in February 1992. The number of the
killed frozen Khojalians exceeded over 1000 people. The
majority of the killed people were women, old men, and children.
In May 1992 after the tragic Khojali events the armed forces of
Armenia captured the last Azerbaijan town Shusha.
Then one by one such cities as Lachin, Kelbajar, Aghdam,
Fizuli, Cebrail, Zengilan and Gubadlih had been captured by
them. The Azeries have been driven out from all the territories
occupied by the Armenian aggressors. The vast territories, which
form 1/5 of the republic, have been transformed into “died zone”,
where only the armed forces of Armenia are the masters.
As a result of the aggressive activities of the armed forces of
Armenia there was much destruction not only in Nagorny
Garabakh Region, but in Agstafa, Qazakh, Gedabey regions and
in Sadarak regions of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic as
well. The number of killed people among civilians was more than
20000.
Many international organizations and a number of countries,
nowadays take efforts, for peaceful solution of the problem. But
all the organizations such us UN, OSCE admit the
complexity of
its problem. And it is due to the fact that the Armenian side
refuses to admit the fact of the direct aggression of the Armenia
Republic against sovereign Azerbaijan. Nevertheless, the
Azerbaijan side, with the president H.Aliyev above its head, tries
to solve this problem peacefully and return our occupied
territories back to Azerbaijan again.

campaign, hundreds of Azeris were crushed by tanks in the streets
of Baki in January 1990, while in February of 1992 the
Azeri-populated Khojali town
of Karabakh was obliterated from
the surface of earth by Armenian and Russian thugs.
As a result, two million Azerbaijanis have been affected by the
policy of genocide throughout the 20
th
century. “We must not
forget the carnage, the lessons we have been taught. Our task is to
learn the lessons, ease the after-effects of those tragedies, teach
future generations to be vigilant to hostile forces”, the President
said.
