ABSTRACT
English as a Foreign Language or EFL refers to learning
or teaching English in
countries where English is not spoken by majority of people. In Turkey English is
learned as a foreign language, Turkish people learn English in Turkey. In our country
most teachers use standardized methods of teaching which relies on lecturing and then
practicing. Most students and teachers are familiar with
this method even though it
does not engage students in lectures sufficiently. The flipped classroom is a
pedagogical model in which the typical lecture and homework elements of a course are
reversed. Lectures are viewed by students at home before the class session, while in-
class
time is devoted to exercises, projects, or discussions.
We will discuss effect of
the flipped classroom on teaching English as a foreign language.
