Today I finally climbed Mt. Everest, the tallest mountain in the world. The top of the 
mountain was amazing. It felt like we were close to the sky. The snow was so thick that my 
boots sank. I looked at the beauty around me. Maybe my story would be a legend one day. 
I wanted people to remember this forever. I was the senior explorer in my group. I took many 
pictures with my camera. I would put them in a frame and hang them. On the mountain, the air 
was very cold. I looked over the side of the mountaintop. From that angle, I saw the border of the 
clouds touching the rocks below. It looked pure. There was no sign of modern life. After fifteen 
minutes, I knew it was time to go down from the mountain. I was glad. The team congratulated 
us. My chief praised us. I sent messages to my relatives to tell them that I was safe. But it was

Technology is helping Japanese farmers. For thousands of years they have tried to keep 
animals away from their farms. Japanese engineers have invented the “ Super Monster W o lf’ 
to scare away wild animals that want to eat crops of rice, pumpkin or potato. “ Super Monster 
W olf’ is a solar-powered scarecrow robot that looks like a real wolf. It has wolf-like hair, big 
terrifying teeth and red LED eyes. It also has 48 different wolf noises so animals never get used 
to it. “ Super Monster W o lf’ will be used to keep animals like wild bears and deer out of rice

A restaurant in the city of Modena, Italy, has been named as the best restaurant in the world. 
The restaurant “ Osteria Francescana” was recognised as “ Number One” at “ The World’s 50 Best 
Restaurants” award ceremony in New York. The ceremony is like the Oscars of the food world. 
Italian food is loved worldwide, but surprisingly, this is the first time an Italian restaurant has 
won the annual prize. The Osteria Francescana came second in 2015 and third in 2013 and 2014. 
The chef and owner of the Osteria Francescana is Mr Massimo Bottura. The competition judges 
gave Bottura the award for his creative and original food and traditional ingredients. He was 
very emotional on stage when he took the award. He said, “I want to thank everyone because it 
has been so hard. Our job is all about art ... in the kitchen.” Winning the award has been good 
for business. Anyone who wants to eat there must make a reservation six months in advance. 
Customers will now fly to Italy just to eat in Mr Bottura’s restaurant.
