HOW TO USE STORIES AND PLAYS1

2.2 Traditional comedy "Woe from Wit"
AS Griboyedov is often called "the creator of one book." It is unlikely that the author of the famous comedy "Woe from Wit" can be accused of negligence and laziness. Alexander Sergeevich was an outstanding diplomat, a gifted musician and a prominent public figure. Everything that this extraordinary person undertook bore the imprint of genius. His life and creative credo was the phrase: "I live and write - freely and freely." This article is devoted to the analysis of the play "Woe from Wit".
Elements of classicism in "Woe from Wit". Griboyedov's famous comedy is considered to be the first Russian realistic comedy. At the same time, it combines the features of classicism, rapidly developing in the era of romanticism and innovative realism . A thorough analysis of the comedy "Woe from Wit" shows that the work meets the basic requirements for creating a "high" comedy.
the play "Woe from Wit" retains the unity of place, time and action - the three categories that characterize classicism. The action takes place within one day in Famusov's house.
In this amazing play, one can also find features of romanticism. The public conflict of the play is characteristic precisely for romanticism: Chatsky alone opposes the entire Famus society, inert, sanctimonious. This is a confrontation in everything: in relation to wealth, rank, service, education, serfdom, foreign influences. Two camps - "a whole camp of the Famusovs and all the brethren" and one fighter, "the enemy of quest" (I.A. Goncharov)
Romanticism is characterized by tragic pathos. There is a kind of tragedy in Griboyedov's play.
Goncharov spoke of Chatsky's role as "passionate":
"Chatsky is broken by the amount of old strength."
But at the same time, he is a winner, because. behind him is the truth of the future. Like any romantic hero, Chatsky is lonely.
("... in the crowd I am lost, like not my own")
There are indeed more than twenty characters in the play, and not five or ten as in classicism. Characters are not clearly divided into positive and negative. Griboedov's heroes are typical and act in typical circumstances. So, Famusov is a typical Moscow gentleman. However, his image is individual: he sincerely loves his daughter and wishes her happiness, he is not without a sense of humor. The image of Sophia is also ambiguous: she is capable of a strong feeling, at the same time it is she who starts the murderous gossip about the madness of Chatsky. Other heroes of the comedy are also ambiguous. This is where realism comes into play. The text of the play contains many precise details of Moscow life, the customs of the Moscow nobility.
AS Griboyedov stood at the origins of new trends in Russian drama. The comedy vividly, accurately and skillfully combines the features of different literary movements - classicism, romanticism and realism, the main conflict of the era - "the present century and the past century."
