The PCMCIA interface
The PCMCIA interface is supported in all Windows 9X (incuding Windows ME) and 2000/XP versions.
The card supports 2 DMX links (universes) and may be configured as 2 links with DMX out or one link
with DMX out and one with DMX in. A complete installation guide is shipped with the card, and may
also be downloaded from
http://www.martin.dk/service/Manuals/PCMCIA.pdf
Drivers are required to operate the interface in both Windows 9X and Windows 2000/XP. The interface
has Windows plug and play functionality so to install the required driver, simply start up Windows and
insert the card. After a few seconds Windows will report that it has found new hardware and that a
driver is required. To install the drivers, follow the steps in the Windows New Hardware Wizard. Note
that the interface requires different drivers in the Windows 9X and Windows 2000/XP installations.
The Windows 9X drivers are located in the \HardwareDrivers\PCMCIA\W9X\ folder
while the driver for Windows 2000/XP is located in the
\HardwareDrivers\PCMCIA\W2K\ folder. Please make sure to select the right driver.
Once installation of the driver has been completed start up LightJockey and select the interface from
the detect hardware list.
Using two PCMCIA interfaces
By using two PCMCIA interfaces the DMX capability may can be increased to a total of 4 links. To use
a second PCMCIA card it must be a special 'card #2' revision (marked link III-IV) - it is not possible to
combine two #1 cards (link I-II).
PCMCIA (one card) setup options
Check Enable DMX in to enable
DMX in
on the second link. When DMX in is enabled it is possible
to select DMX refresh rate (44 Hz or 22 Hz). With DMX in disabled it is not possible to change refresh
rate.
PCMCIA (two cards) setup options
Check Enable DMX in to enable
DMX in
on link 4 (marked link 2 on the break out box). When
DMX in is enabled it is possible to select DMX refresh rate (44 Hz or 22 Hz) for the 3'rd link (3'rd link
only). With DMX in disabled it is not possible to change refresh rate.
IMPORTANT
Although the PCMCIA interfaces are 'hot-plug' interfaces (can be removed and inserted while Windows
is running) - do not remove the interfaces while LightJockey is running. If removed and re-inserted
while LightJockey is running, interfaces will not be re-initialized correctly. To re-initialize the interfaces,
LightJockey must be restarted.

The LightJockey USB/DMX Interfaces
DMX/USB interfaces are supported in Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP. The USB DMX interface
transmits 512 DMX channels. From LightJockey version 2.5, a maximum of 4 USB DMX-out interfaces
can be connected for a total of 2048 DMX out channels.
Driver locations - Important notes
If you are installing/updating the USB driver from a LightJockey release downloaded from the Internet,
it may be necessary to run LightJockey once to decompress and update new files - the USB driver
folder may not be available until the installation is properly updated.
If you are installing USB drivers from a version of LightJockey that has been updated with a newer
version, you may see folders with names such as \HardwareDrivers\USB\W9X or
\HardwareDrivers\USB\W2K - these are older versions of the driver from a previous installation or
update, do NOT install the driver from these folders.
Multi USB interface installation - Important notes
Windows system level support for USB devices means that it is not possible for LightJockey to
distinguish between physical USB interfaces of the same type.
To be sure that LightJockey routes the intended DMX data to the same physical USB interface each
time, make sure that all USB interfaces are connected to the same connector as it was when
configured. Also, interfaces should be connected to the USB ports before Windows starts up. See

Notes on using multiple USB Interfaces
 for more details
USB Interface Models
There are 3 different models of the LightJockey USB/DMX interface:
The original, 'square' DMX-Out model.
- In LightJockey, this model will be referred to as USB/DMX Interface
The newer, 'triangular' DMX-Out model.
- In LightJockey, this model will be referred to as USB/DMX Interface II - DMX-out
Installing USB interface drivers
Windows drivers are required to operate the interface in any Windows version. The USB interface
features Windows plug and play functionality. To install the required driver, connect the interface(s)
and then start up Windows.
During startup Windows will report that it has found new hardware and that a driver is required. To
install the drivers, follow the guidance in the Windows New Hardware Wizard. The driver for the
interface is located in \HardwareDrivers\USB2\. If multiple USB interfaces are
connected, a driver must be installed for each interface. For a detailed walkthrough of the driver
installation please refer to the hardware installation guide that came with LightJockey - or download a
an installation updated guide from the support area of www.martin.dk
Configuring USB interfaces
Once installation of Windows USB driver(s) is completed, start up LightJockey and go to the hardware
setup Main Menu ->Setup
Click 'Detect DMX Hardware' to detect installed DMX hardware (note: performing a hardware detection
will disconnect already configured USB interfaces - to reconnect the interfaces, LightJockey must be
restarted).
