Hardware Setup
In order for LightJockey to recognize hardware such as transmitter interfaces or direct access
controllers, they must first be configured using the hardware setup dialog. The dialog is accessed
through the main Setup menu (Setup/Hardware Setup).
The hardware setup dialog
The dialog locates different types of hardware and associated software settings on different tabs.

XLR Cable Connnections
Connecting the DMX link(s)
All LightJockey transmitter hardware is configured as pin 1 to shield, pin 2 to cold and pin 3 to hot. See
below for notes on 3 to 5 pin XLR converters and phase-reversing cables (for older Martin fixtures and
some fixtures from other manufacturers). Always remember to terminate the end of the links with a
120-ohm terminating plug.
The 4064 ISA DJ card
The DJ card ships with a SUB-D to XLR cable. Connect to the female XLR for DMX out, and the male
XLR for DMX in.
The 4064 ISA Club card
The Club card ships with 3 SUB-D to XLR cables. The D-SUB to 2 x female XLR should be used in the
top SUB-D connector for 2 x DMX out(link 1 and 2). Use the second 2 x female XLR in the lower SUB-
D socket if the card is configured with 4 x DMX out(link 3 and 4). Use male+female XLR cable if the
card is configured to receive DMX in(link 3 and DMX in).
The PCI 512 card
The PCI 512 card ships with a SUB-D to XLR cable. Connect to the female XLR for DMX out, and the
male XLR for DMX in.
The PCI 2048 card
The PCI 2048 card ships with 3 SUB-D to XLR cables. The D-SUB to 2 x female XLR should be used
in the top SUB-D connector for 2 x DMX out (link 1 and 2). Use the second 2 x female XLR in the lower
SUB-D socket if the card is configured with 4 x DMX out (link 3 and 4). Use the male+female XLR
cable if the card is configured to receive DMX in (link 3 and DMX in).
To the DMXADP Interface
Connect a 3 pin XLR to the female XLR output of the interface.
To the PCMCIA interface
When using 1 PCMCIA interface, DMX outputs and DMX input are located as displayed on the
breakout box. When using DMX in, connect the incoming DMX to link 2. When using two PCMCIA
interfaces, outputs for link 3 & 4 are located on the breakout box connected to the second PCMCIA
card.
To the USB Interface
Connect the link to the 3 pin XLR on the USB interface.
3 Pin to 5 pin XLR converters and phase reversing cables.
