3 tips for millennial parents
You can do a lot for your kids’ health just by being a good
example.
1.
Model healthy living and habits.
Children learn best
by example. Millennials
are the largest demographic
group now and are in the prime child-raising years.
Children establish many of their eating habits by age 12
and activity habits at a somewhat younger age. Engage
your children in healthy eating and exercise with
activities centered around shopping for food and
preparing it,
walks in the local park, and going to
playgrounds. When children have fun doing these
activities, it leaves a permanent happy memory that
guides them toward healthy decisions when they’re on
their own. What they learn to
do early in life sets their
nutrition and exercise patterns for the next 50-plus
years.
2.
Lead by example when it comes to digital screen
time.
Balance is key. Smartphones, computers and the
internet are all necessary, but be an example to your
children on how to manage screens and screen time.
Spend time
with them without a screen, too. It reminds
them of how important they are to you.
