H65D - Osborne Reynolds Apparatus - Code 935700 

 

 

 

 

 



1. General 

H65D has been designed to study the turbulent and transient laminar flows behaviour through a transparent calibrated tube 

into which a  coloured solution is injected. 

It is analytically shown that the physic meaning of the Reynolds’ number is represented by the inertia ratio measure of the 

viscose forces which act on a fluid.  

So the students can visualize the difference between laminar and turbulent flow correspondento to a Reynolds’number. 

The unit is supplied together with an installation and operating manual with theoretical remarks on fluid mechanics. 

2. Composition 

The unit is composed  of:

3. Description 

The test flow is supplied by means of a ring diffuser into a feeding cylindrical tank and from there into a vertical test tube. 

The coloured solution is carried into the test section through a small diameter tube. 

The fluid flow is adjusted by means of a valve located at the base of the unit and its value is measured by means of a flow-

meter.
