At Dundee the thirteenth day of November Eighteen hundred and forty two years George Sutherland present Deacon of the Hammerman Trade of Dundee Which day George Duncan Esquire Member of Parliament for the Burgh of Dundee was admitted and received an Honorary Member as a Blacksmith, Goldsmith, Jeweller, Clock Maker, Gunsmith, Sword Slipper, Cutler, Locksmith, Farrier, Sadler, Lorimer, Brass founder, Plumber, Pewterer, Coppersmith, White Iron Smith, Guard Maker and Potter in the said Hammerman Trade during his Lifetime with all the privileges and immunities thereto belonging. And in Testimony whereof Mr Duncan has subscribed this entry in the Trades Locket Book along with the Deacon. Geo Duncan George Sutherland Deacon

George Sutherland present Deacon of the Hammerman Trade of Dundee Which day Robert Brown Shipbuilder in Dundee was admitted and received a free Master of the said Hammerman Trade as a Blacksmith both he and his representatives and free Apprentices. It being hereby declared that the said Robert Brown and his foresaid shall not be a liberty by his present entry to do any work belonging to any of the other arts or branches of the said Hammerman Trade but are restricted to that sort of work which properly belong to or is ordinarily wrought by a Blacksmith allenarly. And the said Robert Brown having given his oath of fidelity to the Trade in common form, signs these presents along with the Deacon. It being hereby declared that the said Andrew Hynd Tin and his foresaid shall not be a liberty by his present entry to do any work belonging to any of the other arts or branches of the said Hammerman Trade but are restricted to that sort of work which properly belong to or is ordinarily wrought by a White Iron Smith allenarly. And the said Andrew Hynd having given his oath of fidelity to the Trade in common form, signs these presents along with the Deacon. It being hereby declared that the said Peter Whytock and his foresaid shall not be a liberty by his present entry to do any work belonging to any of the other arts or branches of the said Hammerman Trade but are restricted to that sort of work which properly belong to or is ordinarily wrought by a Watch Maker allenarly. And the said Peter Whytock in Dundee was admitted and received a free Master of the having given his oath of fidelity to the Trade in common form, signs these presents along with the Deacon.
