Enbasa el-Avar’s son abd el Barr started to rule Gabala. 10th century ad (in 981) Shirvanshah Mahammad ibn ahmad attacked Gabala and annexed it to the Shirvanshah state. 10th century ad (in 999) Shirvanshah yazid ibn ahmad started war with the Gabala ruler Abd al-Barr again. 11th century ad (in 1025) Gabala was in bondage to the Shirvanshahs. 11th century ad (since 1066) The Seljuks started to attack Gabala. 11th century ad (in 1068) Shirvan’s ruler Feriburz I together with the Seljuk sultan alp arslan occupied Gabala and made it Shirvanshahs’ vassal again. 12th century (in 1120) The Georgian King david Iv conquered the city. 13th century ad (in 1222) came under the Gypchaks’ attack. 13th century ad (in 1229) jalaladdin appointed Kharezmshah Safieddin as a ruler to Sheki and Gabala. 13th century ad (in 1231-1239) came under the Mongols’ attack under the command of warlord jormag. 14th century ad (in 1386) amir timur (tamerlane) (1370-1405) conquered Gabala. 14th century ad (in 1386) Shirvanshah Ibrahim I informed to obey amir timur (tamerlane) (1370-1405), therefore, he was managed to rescue the Shirvanshah state and Gabala (annexed to it) from destructions. 15th century ad (in 1412) Gabala district was in bondage to the Shirvanshah state by the order of Garagoyunlu ruler Garayusif.
Gabala was ruled by Shujaeddin erdeshir. Owing to him Gabala became a laudable city. SEBA

Sheki’s ruler Shah Husein together with Farrukh yasar Sheikhshah (Shirvanshah Ibrahim II) invaded Gabala, however Shirvanshah Farrukh yasar set Gabala free soon. 16th century ad (in 1501) Gabala started to follow an independent policy under the bondage of the Safavid state.
The attack and invasion of the ottoman Sultan Murad III 16th century ad (in 1580) The Gabala fortress was restored. 16 th century ad (in 1590) was absorbed into the ottoman empire. Late 16 th - early 17 th centuries (1590-1606) Gabala was ruled by Turkish governor-general Mahammad amin Pasha. 1st half of the 17th century The territory was one of the centres of 14 districts of Shirvan vicegerency. 18th century ad (in 1736) Gabala was annexed to nadir Shah afshar’s (1736-1747) empire. 18th century ad (in 1747) Following the death of nadir Shah afshar, two sultanates were established within the territory of the city: Gabala and Gutgashen
and Gutgashen (Gutgashin) village became the center of Gutgashen (Gutgashin) sultanate.

Gabala district and Sheki. Late 18th century Gabala lost its sultanate status and became a district. 19th century (1805) Gabala district was absorbed by the russian empire according to the Kurakchay treaty.
The Russian Empire abolished Gutgashen sultanate. 19th century (in 1835) Reshidbey and Saadat Khanim by Ismayil bey Gutgashinli (prominent military leader, enlightener and writer) published in Warsaw in French.
Gutgashen provinces (According to the Russia’s administrative reforms dated 10 April, 1840).
