dell’operazione condotta da Thutmosi III, che si configurò come una vera e propria riconquista della regione. Concludendo, tutti questi dati sembrano concordemente suggerire come il Mar Rosso, il Nilo e le piste del Deserto Occidentale abbiano rappresentato vie alternative in sistema unico di direttrici tra Mediterraneo e entroterra africano preferite o trascurate in relazione allo sviluppo dei rapporti di forza tra le potenze regionali e, in alcuni casi, a eventuali condizioni di disagio ambientale che potevano comprometterne la praticabilità. Al di là dell’interesse del modello per una migliore comprensione delle dinamiche storiche e sociali della regione, l’interesse di questa interpretazione consiste nel fatto che trasforma l’Africa nordorientale antica in un importante caso di studio non solo per storici ed archeologi ma anche analisti e storici dell’economia interessati al problema del sorgere e dello sviluppo dei sistemi centro-periferia e dei “World Systems”. 52
