In the paper the training of the horses and the development of horse-breeding in Azerbaijan
have been analyzed. At the same time the military importance of using horses in the battles has been
investigated. The methods teaching the youth of Midya how to fight on horses and aim accurately
with bows, at the same time the ways to use the horses independently and efficiently have been studied
based on vast sources. Horsemen’s arms and defense equipment, the art of using horses in defensive
and offensive operations have been involved in the investigations. Different tactical methods of using
horses efficiently in compliance with the mobility and maneuverability of the equestrian units.
