O n October 31st, many people celebrate Halloween. Halloween is a very popular holiday in many countries, including in the United States and some European countries. Halloween is a holiday that has been celebrated for hundreds of years. Originally, it came from Ireland.
T hese days, people celebrate Halloween in different ways. Children (and many adults!) love to dress up in costumes and have parties. Children like to go around their neighborhood asking for candy. This is called to “go trick-or-treating.”
M any people like to decorate their houses with pumpkins and candles. Families often visit a “pumpkin patch” (a farm that grows pumpkins) and choose pumpkins for the family.
These are then carved (cut) to make interesting faces. Then a candle is put inside and it is called a “jack-o-lantern.” Other people like to watch spooky movies (scary films) or read ghost stories. In school, children often have a party.
Remember, Halloween is always celebrated on October 31st.
