Introduction
Aim
To provide students with guidance and assistance in using English effectively as a medium of communication and sharing different verb phrases in English.
Objectives
By the end of the course students will
get practice in the language skills specific to sharing verb phrases;
be able to use English as a means of phrases, word formation, and phrases and collacations organization to promote a meaningful language practice;
have a basis for deciding on the use of the target language and the mother tongue in
class;
practice the appropriate use of body language and voice projection.
Ways of cooking food
You boil potatoes or rice in a saucepan.
You can fry sausages in a frying pan.
You grill toast or meat under a grill.
You roast meat [using oil] in the oven.
You also bake cakes [without oil] in the oven.
You barbecue meat and fish on a barbecue.
Food which is not cooked is raw.

Preparing and cooking food
Peel the potatoes [remove the skin] and boil them.
While they’re boiling, chop an onion. [cut it into small pieces]
Fry the onion before adding some chopped tomatoes. [putting them together with the onions]
Then stir it all for a few minutes. [move it around in a saucepan using a spoon]
Paying the bill
We’ll split the bill, shall we? [either each person will pay for himself/herself, or the bill will be divided equally between all the participants]
Lunch is on me today. [I am paying for you; informal]
Would you like to join us for dinner at the City Plaza hotel? [come with us]
We’d like you to be our guest. [we will pay; formal]
Let me get this. [pay the bill; informal]
I was wined and dined every night by the New York office. [invited out to restaurants]
