purchasers in late XVII century; solid and thick glasses produced in England,
Germany and Bohemia were mostly desirable. Glass factories were established in
Stonebridge, Bristol, Sheffield and some other places parallel with London. After
adoption of law on glass tax in England in 1745, despite stagnation in glass
production its manufacture continued. Like in many samples we displayed, Bristol
glass factories were well-known for production of violet, blue, green and white
plain glass.
Height of one of shorth-necked and four-cornered glass bottles is 3,2
centimeter.
The diameter of its open is 2 centimeter arc I more short-necked than others.
Thickness of glass wall is 0, 2 centimeter. The wall of short-necked bottles is twice
thinner than the wall of long-necked in general. The height of neck and diameter of
its open are the saw inward in other sample of short-necked bottles and is 2,5
centimeter.
Along with large bottles, little bottles are mostly encountered in the
excavation site amongst the findings. Little bottles have long and middle-size neck
a wider frame, and the shape of its open. Height of neck of one bottie in its safe
part is 6 centiemer and diameter of its open inward is 1,7 cenitemer. Glass lead is
worn on the edge of the open of glass bottle having straight and long neck. Glass
producers prepared the open of the bottles by a glass lead as a rule. It is seen
clearly in crude samples since it's not felt in accurate samples. One of bottles is
little and having interesting neck and its open went out towards edges as a baloon.
Height of safe part of the bottle is 6 centimeter, diameter of its open inward is 1,5
centimeter. The thickness of the bottle wall is 0,2 centimeter.
Two of necks of interesting glass bot. ties differ for their fretworks. Medium
size
bottles are blue and large open. Fretworks (diameter is 0,08 and 0,1
centimeter) are of thin sticks over it differ for density of wind around. Height of
safe part of the bottle neck fretworks of which densely winded around is 9,5
centimeter, the diameter of the open is 2 centimeter. Height of of safe part of the
bottle neck, fretworks of which relatively widely muffled is 6,5 centimeter and the
diameter open is 2,3 centimeter.
One of opens of the most interesting glass bottles differs from its fine
trimming. It has a narrow neck and wide open. Height of safe part of its long neck
is 10 centimeter, open diameter is 4 centimeter, neck diameter is 1,5 centimeter,
the thickness of the wall is 1 centimeter. Its open was wrapped towards edge and
neck is twist-stemmed.
Neck of one of white glass bottles was displayed from IV excavation site.
Glass plate decorated with shear ornaments on the top was done the bottle's neck.
Height of safe part of glass bottle is 4 centimeter, open diameter is 3,6 centimeter.
Glass tanks were widely used by Agsu residents with the purpose to keep
drinks. Base pieces of dark tanks were primarily found and differ for being circular
57
and four-cornered. The walls of circular tanks with a bottom are thicker than the
walls of four-cornered tanks. Their base is distinct towards inside in order plates'
well fitting. It is also mostly for hiding coarse last stage of completed work.
Diameter of base of one of dark-green circular tanks is 14 cm, height of safe part is
11 cm, thickness of the wall is 0, 8-1 cm.
Base of the tank of one more four-cornered form displayed during
excavations of IV site in Agsu is distinct towards inside; its diameter is 15,5 cm,
height of its safe part is 7,5 cm, and thickness of its wall is 0,6 cm in base.
George Ravenscroft, a glassmaker in England started to produce flint glass
in 1676 after long experiences. This heaviest and bright glass known by lead glass
was more limpid than Venetian glass and of easier shear. Shear limpid glasses were
widely spred in England and Ireland in second half of XVIII century and found a
vast customer mass in Europe.
Decanter lids were especially noted amongst limpid glass products. Height
of safe part of one of them is 5 centimeter, diameter is 2,8 centimeter in bottom. A
lid ruffled from the middle and decorated with delicate patterns reflects features of
XVIII glass peculiarities. One oft he lids is flat flat and has a projection to hold.
Diameter of the lid is 5 centimeter. Height of its projection is 1,5 centimeter. This
crystalline lid is intended to be a lid of small sugarbowl and jam bowl.
Handle of limpid glass pitcher prepared due to XVIII century technology
and patterned. Its height is 11 cm, width 1,5x2 cm, density 0,5 cm. Ornament was
modelled along the handle by thin glass wire in its middle flattened fom two sides.
Pieces of candlestick, prepared from limpid glasses reflect pompous urban
life of this period. To recall, this kind of candlesticks, produced in European
countries were known for their grace. Interesting stick work was done over them.
Stick feet was put on one of the candlesticks and blue glass stick traversed 0,8 cm
length into the glass to give colourfullness to feet. These feet were pasted on
conoid basis; and long and thicker glass stick was worn on flat part of the cone.
Decoration of thin stick was arranged in bottom and upper parts of the projection.
The shape is not known, since the place where candle is put broken and has 9-
centimeter length. It was defined that inside of such sticks were empty after display
of a thick glass stick of the same candlestick, worn on the cone. Candle part of that
candlestick fragment and conoid lacked and its height is 5-centimeter.
One of import ways of glass product, produced in Europe, especially
England and France into Azerbaijan's area had traversed through Ottoman market.
Non-Moslem merchants, subjects of Ottoman bring glass product to different cities
of Balkan Peninsula from Europe along with coarse calico, clock, jewellery, gold-
trimming things, sheet, sheepskincoat; and laid in the country inside.
Austrian merchants brought glass product, especially window-glasses to
Osmanly markets from glass production centres of Nurnberg, Germany. Display of
the coin minted in Nurnberg by the name of Kunst-mann, Johann Conrad in 1780-
