The article examines the M.S. Gorbachev’s policy of nuclear disarmament and his negotiations with the rep- resentatives of the United States – Ronald Reagan in Geneva, 1985, in Reykjavik, October 1986, and George W. Bush, July 1991. The considerable attention is paid to the analysis of negotiations of Gorbachev on intermedi- ate-range missiles and shorter-range missiles, inadequate concessions of the Soviet leader which he did to Ameri- cans for the sake of signing of the contract on elimination of this class of missiles. It is noted also, as the contract signed on July 31, 1991 about reduction of strategic ballistic arms, was based on the Soviet concessions.
