Rani Nair
What does it mean to inherit a dance? German choreographer Kurt Jooss made his last
piece Dixit Dominus in 1975 as a gift for Swedish-based Indian dancer Lilavati Häger,
who gave it to Rani Nair. After performing the reconstructed piece at Hanoi Opera House
and the Centre National de Danse in Paris in 2005–06, Nair returns to this work again
in Future Memory.
In both white-box and black-box iterations, Future Memory is a performance about the
economy of the gift, and the very personal terms of legacy and its responsibilities. At its
heart is the question of relationships between individual people, imagined dialogues
dance styles, and times – and the solo performer who acts as mediator.
Choreographer and Performer: Rani Nair; Dramaturge/Historian: Kate Elswit; Producer:
Anna Thelin.

REBaroque
Formed in 1998 REBaroque was quickly established as one of Sweden’s leading baroque
ensembles. Led by concert master Maria Lindal, REBaroque’s trademark is modern and
innovative musicianship, successfully transcending musical boundaries. REBaroque
tours internationally. The repertoire includes orchestral and chamber works as well as
oratorios and opera.
In their endeavour to find new perspectives on old music, REBaroque have chosen to
co-operate with several soloists and conductors. Together with mezzo-soprano Malena
Ernman the ensemble toured in 2012 with the musical drama Händel which was highly
acclaimed by the critics.
REBaroque is “Baroque Houseband” at the Stockholm Royal Concert Hall.
The violinist Maria Lindal is REBaroque’s concert master and artistic director. She has
previously worked with several of Europe’s leading baroque orchestras such as Concerto
Köln, Les Musiciens du Louvre, Concerto Copenhagen, Norsk Barokkorkester and the
Orchestra of the Drottningholm Theatre. Maria is trained at the Royal College of Music
in Stockholm and studied baroque violin with Marc Destrubé in London.

Robin Jonsson
Robin Jonsson has studied at the Royal Swedish Ballet School in Stockholm and at
P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels, where he created the pieces Super Conflict and I Believe I Can
See The Future. Over the past two years he has been touring and working in Belgium,
Sweden, Austria, Germany, Portugal, Tunisia, the UK, South Korea and Mexico.
Robin Jonsson grew up with computer games all around him. With his latest project
Simulations he again addresses new media and speaks of what they do not mention.
These media rarely ask the question “What if what I show here would be real?”
This addresses not only what is a robot, high technology and so on in a society where
everything’s copied and simulated a thousand times and where it becomes increasingly
difficult to distinct reality from fiction, but it also addresses the implications on
individuality and freedom in our daily – and theatrical – realities.
