Multi-channel scaling (MCS) mode
will be opened on a screen allowing the user to set the following parameters:
Number of channels – number of channels defining one acquisition cycle –
channel nr 0 is always the first and is not related with lower level threshold value.
Sweeps count – number of sweeps which combine one measurement – set in a
range from 1 to  16777215 (2
24
-1)
Lower level threshold – set by entering a number of a channel
Upper level threshold – set by entering a number of a channel
Threshold level values can also be set by copying position of markers in MCA
mode of running. This command can be performed by clicking Set thresholds as
for MCA button placed at the bottom of that dialog window.
Dwell Time – duration of processing in one channel – can be set in a range
between 2 µs and above 8000 s, the user must select  unit of time and set
value.
Signal input – selection of a type of pulse input socket: TTL or BNC
Triggering – selection of a type of acquisition cycle triggering: internal or
external
Advancing – selection of a manner of advancing channel: internal or external
pulse
Multi-sweeps – selection of a manner of  next cycle activation: automatically or
by external pulse
Accumulation –  switching on (Summing) and off (Overwrite) of accumulation

of counts in channels in sequential cycles
Stop mode –  switching between three types of acquisition stop rules after
performing Stop command:
immediate, when processing in current channel is finished or when processing of
current sweep is finished.

Measurement control in MCS mode
When MCS mode of running is set, acquisition parameters panel contains the
following parameters:
Acq. status:
ON
 – acquisition is in progress,
OFF
 – acquisition is stopped,
additional message in a line below
informs about reasons of acquisition
stop, e.g.
OVERFLOW
 – signalizes that overflow
in channel has occurred
Current parameters (of acquisition):
Time:  duration of acquisition in sec.
Channel:  number of channel currently
being
processed
Cycle:  number of current sweep
Dwell Time:  duration of processing in one channel
selected by the user
Number of channels:  selected number of channels
Number of sweeps:  selected number of sweeps.

Spectrum "ACQUISITION_MCS"
Multi-channel scaling (MCS) mode
In MCS mode of work, experimental spectrum is named “ACQUISITION_MCS”
(see
Spectrum "ACQUISITION_MCS"
).
Spectrum collected in MCS mode of work is saved to disk in „.wds” format (see
Spectra files formats
 ).
Spectra container
could contain spectra of both types: MCA and MCS. The
program automatically affects on change of type of spectrum.
Calibration and analysis of MCS type spectra
4.4
Calibration and analysis of MCS type spectra
Calibration of MCS type spectrum
The program automatically defines (linear) time calibration for MCS type spectra.
Time scale is displayed on a top border of a spectrum panel. Applied units are
selectable in configuration dialog box:

MCS-type spectra are disabled. For such kind of a spectrum calibration can not
be edited.
Every change of Dweel Time leads to automatic change of time calibration of a
spectrum.
Analysis of MCS type spectrum
Changing type of main spectrum between MCA and MCS effects in different set
of parameters displayed below a spectrum, i.e. those parameters which are
calculated on-line for selected peak. Besides, set of available parameters to be
put in the Peak Table and in the report is changed as well.
Inside “on-line” parameters panel for MCS type spectrum, the following values
are displayed:
Integral of counts for part of spectrum bounded by the markers (including
channels on which the markers are placed) and
Counts for second (CPS) for the same region.
For information purpose, value of Dwell Time calculated in seconds is displayed
as well.
Bounds of selected region (From, To) are displayed in the same units as applied
for time scale of a spectrum. Time units can be switched to counts in channel
thanks to the following button:

placed on a toolbar above a spectrum.
For MCS-type spectra, the user can define ROIs and the peak table upon
selected ROIs.

Working with several analyzers

Working with several analyzers
If the Tukan8k program is installed applying "up to four acquisition paths"
option (see" Instalation of Tukan8k program" , p. 5) then it would be possible to
define additional acquisition paths and control of several (max. 4) analyzers.
For such a version of the program, after defining additional acquisition path,
appearance of some functions and modules differs. The main changes are as
follows:
·
different names of
acquisition spectra
·
different appearance of
“Hardware” module
·
additional
“Multi-analyzer” module
, which allows the user to observe and to
control all analyzers simultaneously
·
different elements concerned with acquisition process in
“Analyzer” module
.
5.1
Adding acquisition path
Working with several analyzers
Controlling by the program a second (or and other) analyzer needs to be
preceded by defining additional acquisition path.
This can be done in HARDWARE module only
Adding acquisition path
menu:  File | Add acquisition path...
This command adds "empty" acquisition path panel and assigns to it an index
which is the first not occupied integer value between 2 and 4.
Next, it is necessary to assign an analyzer to the newly defined acquisition path
