that the program performs control of number of counts in selected region. Region
is defined by two parameters:
Home channel and
End channel

selected region exceeds value

Controling data acquisition
Acquisition parameters panel is a frame placed at the right side of a screen in
HARDWARE and ANALYZER module. It contains fields describing actual status
of acquisition, its parameters and the spectrum preview window at the bottom of
it; all data are periodically refreshed:
Acquisition status:
ON – acquisition is running,
OFF – acquisition
is stopped or not started, second field below contains
message describing cause of acquisition stop
Time acquisition time in sec:
Real: duration of the acquisition run (in seconds)
58

Measurement
Live: global amount of time (in seconds) when the device is active, i.e.
the time when ADC is active or ready
Dead [%]: proportional ratio of subtraction of real and live time to real
time
CPS: (counts per second) number of counts registered by the analyzer in a
period of 1 second of real time
Stop criteria acquisition time control parameters:
Live Time or
Real Time -
when set, the acquisition is stopped after
expiration of selected time defined in
Limit[s]
Counts in ROI - when set, the acquisition is stopped after reaching count
limit criterion in a reagion defined by
From, To and
Limit
Integral of counts - actual value of counts in selected region

In ANALYZER module, if acquisition is switched off or when the user does not
pay attention to current acquisition control, he can remove (hide) the acquisition
panel from the screen.

Continuation of acquisition after program shut
down
After starting the acquisition, the program can be closed. Exiting the program
does not result in acquisition stop – acquisition once started runs autonomous
until one circumstance will occur:
exceeding limit of automatic stop criterion (time flow or counts in region)
counts overflow in a channel.
The program, when started, recognizes actual status of acquisition. If is on,
actual parameters of current acquisition will be displayed.

Measurement session
Term 'Measurement session' defines sequence of common measurements
performed in the same conditions and at the same analyzer parameter settings.
Each cycle consists of the following steps:
·
acquisition start

·
acquisition
stop after defined period
·
saving spectrum to a file
·
removing spectrum from the buffer of the analyzer
·
acquisition restart after defined period (break)
Measurement session command can be performed in HARDWARE and
ANALYZER modules from
Measurement menu or from context menu of
acquisition parameters panel.
Configurable parameters of measurement session are as follows:
61
Measurement
Start type: - manual, performed when acquisition is started by e.g. selecting
'Acquisition start' icon, or scheduled, performed at selected date and time
Sweeps count: - number of sequential measurements (which
defines at the
same time a number of spectra files being saved to a disk)
Length of sweep time: - time limit selected in this place is transferred
automatically to the set of parameters
Acquisition automatic stop criteria
and
is obligatory to all measurement, not necessary related to measurement session
Break between sweeps:- period between end of last and begin of next
acquisition
Saving acquisition spectra to separate files
Spectra files: - sequential spectra are saved to files with a given name
composed with
Base name of a file
followed by current number of sweep. The
files are saved in a folder defined in
Folder name box.
Note: spectra can be saved in binary format (*.wdm) or in any of available ASCII
formats (see.
Export to ASCII format
).

TUKAN 8k
File with mathematical results tab provides possibility to save additional
information about acquisition after each end of measurement session. In a form
opened when
Parameter selection button
is pressed, the user can define set of
regions of a spectrum. For each region set of analyze parameters can be
defined. Those parameters are calculated and saved to specified ASCII file after
finish of every sweep.
Generally, for
acquisition performed in MCS mode of work
, the measurement
sessions are defined in the same manner. Spectra are saved to disk as “.wds”
files and set of available parameters is different in comparison to MCA mode of
work.

The spectrum „Acquisition" is created automatically by the program. This is a
spectrum which collects data taken directly from the buffer of the analyzer card.
