Inputs and outputs
ANALOG INPUT  As in MCA mode when used for events counting. Alternatively
it can be use for  Single Channel Analyzer mode working in parallel in MCS
mode.
Port A (EVENT or GATE) –Input.  If Digital input is selected this line serves as a
Counting input. If Analog input is selected this line serves as a Gating pulse as
described in MCA mode.
Port B (STOP or SWEEP– Input or Output; if internal triggering is enabled than
rising edge on this line causes to stops acquisition after the current sweep. If
external triggering is enabled this line serves as a SWEEP output being HIGH
when current sweep is in progress.
Port C (TRIGGER In or Out) – Input or Output; if external triggering is selected,
than rising edge of this line starts each new sweep. If internal triggering is
selected this 100 ns positive output pulse informs external circuitry when each
new sweep was started.
Port D (ADVANCE In or Out) – Input or Output; If external advancing is selected
then rising edge of this line causes to step to the next channel.  If internal
advancing is selected this 100 ns positive output pulse informs external circuitry
when each new dwell step was started.
Note:
All digital ports have 1 kΩ input impedance, are DC coupled and have
positive polarity.

Program Tukan8k
The main purpose of the program is to allow the user to perform: acquisition
control, collection, visualization and archiving of experimental data, to run spectra
analysis and to generate reports containing acquisition results.

Latest updates
Version 1.8 update
Version 1.8 update
2.1.1
Version 1.8 is the major update to previous versions of the Tukan software.
The main new features in version 1.8xx in comparison with 1.7xx are as follows:
·
After selecting new analyzer from a list, restart the program is not necessary
yet.
·
The set of program configuration options (see

Program configuration
) was
enriched into new tab sheet named 'Measurement' containing among the other
- option for turning on or off acquisition signal
·
Time backup of acquisition data

command was moved from Configuration
menu to Measurement menu and is now available in HARDWARE and
ANALYZER modules only. The command was extended by possibility of
saving acquisition time backup in separate files.
·
New command
Measurement session
was added which allows to perform
periodical measurements, each finished with saving acquisition data to
separate binary files or (and) saving numerical result parameters of acquisition
in separate text files.
·
Appearance of acquisition parameters panel has been changed (see
Controling data acquisition
 )

Program Tukan8k
Version 1.9 update
2.1.2
Version 1.9 of the Tukan8k program was reached by adding ability to control
several analyzers and in enhanced support of acquisition in MCS mode of
running:
·
The new “Multi-analyzer” module was added allowing the user to observe
simultaneously “live” spectra derived from different acquisition paths
·
The new “.wds” format for binary spectra collected in MCS mode of running
was introduced
Attention!: files saved in .wds format are not supported by earlier versions of
the program
·
For spectra obtained in MCS mode of running, the program automatically
calculates time calibration
·
Analysis tools (fitting functions) typically available in ANALYSIS module are
disabled for MCS-type spectra
·
The new installation program was developed. Now it is possible to select types
and amount of supported analyzers and language in which the program
interfaces with the user.
New installation program assures proper deinstallation and reinstallation (with
different options selected) of the Tukan8k program.

Program concept
The program has modular construction – selected purposes are realized by
separate program modules, from which everyone can operate as an independent
application.
The program is divided into several files. It consists of the main file - Tukan.exe,
auxiliary files (DLL type) and files containing data in database type files or
individual files. Such concept assures program configurability and ease of
appending different modules at the future.
The whole program is supervised by the separate "manager" which is
responsible for proper functionality of each module, data transferred to modules,
initialization of display parameters etc.
General description of functionality of each module is presented in chapters:
Hardware module
MultiAnalyzer module
Analyzer module
Calibration module
Analysis module
Reports module
