belə olmuşdur. Beləliklə, məlum oldu ki, bu bö-
yük oval planlı binanın fasad tərəfi olan şərq diva-
rında 2, qərb divarında isə 1 qapı olmuşdur. Qərb
divarındakı qapı indiki böyük ictimai binalarda
olduğu kimi ehtiyat qapısı olmuşdur.
Beləliklə, 1-ci oval planlı binanın içəridən
uzunluğu (şimal-cənub) 71 m, xaricdən isə 74,5
m-dir. Onun divarlarının daş bünövrəsinin eni
1,8 m, çiy kərpic divarının eni isə 1,6 m-dir.
Səkinin
ümumi uzunluğu 165 m, sahəsi 363 m
2
-dir. Bu
səkinin üstündə asanlıqla 3 sırada adamlar otura
bilərdi. Beləliklə, təkcə bu səkinin üstündə 500-
600 adam oturaraq burada keçirilən mərasimə
baxa bilərdi. Bu oval planlı tikinti e.ə. I-b.e. I
əsrlərinə aid edilir.
2-ci oval planlı tikinti birincidən 4,1 m şimal
şərqdə, şərq-qərb istiqamətində yerləşir. Bu tikin-
ti haqqında əvvəlki hesabatlarda ətraflı məlumat
verilmişdir. Belə binalar bütün Qafqazda, Yaxın
və Orta Şərqdə bu vaxta kimi aşkar edilməmişdir.
Ona görə də bu binaların qalıqlarını saxlamaq və
onları konservasiya etmək zəruri hesab olunur. Bu
binaların qalıqlarını saxlamaq şərti ilə mümkün
olan sahələrdə alt təbəqələrin qazılması və şəhərin
daha qədim dövrünün öyrənilməsi vacibdir.
Bu məqsədlə 1-ci oval tikintinin orta hissəsində
100 m
2
Thus, it became clear that there were two doors in the
eastern wall as the frontage side of the oval-planned
building and there was one door in the west wall. The
door in the west wall was a reserve door as in present-
day big public buildings.
Thus, the length of oval-planned building I (north-
south) is 71 m from the inside and 74.5 m from the
outside. The width of the stone foundations of oval-
planned building I’s walls is 1.8 m and the width of the
raw brick wall is 1.6 m. There is a terrace built of peb-
bles which is 2.2 m wide on all perimeters inside the
building’s wall. The top of the terrace is at the level of
the floor of the building. This terrace crossed in front
of the doors. The total length of the terrace is 165 m
and the total area is 363 m
2
. People could sit on the ter-
race in three rows easily. Thus, 500-600 people sitting
on the terrace could watch the ceremonies celebrated
here. This oval-planned building belongs to the first
century BC - first century AD.
Oval-planned building II is located 4.1 m north-
east of the first one and lies in an east-west direction.
Comprehensive information about this building was
given in the previous reports.
These kinds of buildings were not detected in the
Caucasus or in the Near and Middle East before now.
That is why preserving these buildings’ remains and
conserving them is inevitable. It is necessary to learn
about the period of the lower layers under excavation
and to learn about the more ancient period of the city
in the potential areas while preserving the remains of
the buildings.
To this end, excavation was started in the middle
part of oval building I on an area of 100 m
2
. In begin-
ning the excavation, the main purpose was to deter-
mine the structure of the columned tripod foundation
which was built with pebbles and to determine the
stratigraphy of the urban area through detecting the
remains of the building. While researching the north-
east door opening of oval building I, the remains of
downstairs walls were detected and it was ascertained
that these walls extended under oval building I.

Gil qab emalatxanasi
Bu qazıntıda e.ə. II əsrə aid gil qab bişirilmə
emalatxanasının qalıqları aşkar edildi (şək.5). Aşkar
edilən kürədə çoxlu sayda təkayaq qara vazalar bişi-
rilib. Həmin qablar əzilmiş halda yerində qalıb. Bu
kürənin bütün qalıqlarını üzə çıxarmaq üçün ekspe-
disiya 2012-ci ildə orada qazıntı sahəsini bir qədər
genişləndirməyi planlaşdırır. Bu qab bişirilən kürə
indiyə kimi Azərbaycanda aşkar edilən kürələrdən
seçilir. Ona görə də kürəni dəqiq tədqiq etmək
zəruridir.
dərəcəsini almaq lazım olub.
deyildi. Hətta bütün Qafqaz regionunda da bizə belə
anbar məlum olmamışdır. Bu anbarda alt hissələri
sıra ilə qazılan quyularda yerləşdirilən çoxsaylı iri
təsərrüfat küplərində ərzaq məhsulları saxlanmışdır.
Keçən qazıntı ilində anbarda 100-ə yaxın küpün
qalıqları izlənilmişdir. Belə ki, e.ə. III əsrdə bu an-
bar öz əhəmiyyətini itirmişdi. Küplərin xeyli hissəsi
istifadə üçün yararsız hala düşmüşdü. Ona görə də
hələ istifadəyə yararlı küplər yenidən istifadə olun-
maq üçün götürülmüş, qalanlarının sınmış parçaları
yerində saxlanılaraq həmin yer hamarlanmış, orada
yeni binalar tikilmişdir. Götürülən küplərin izi quyula-
rın içərisində yaxşı qalmışdır. Bu izlərlə küplərin otu-
pottery
The remains of a clay dish-making workshop be-
longing to the 2nd century BC were detected during
this excavation (Fig.5). There were a large number
of single-footed black vases fired in a kiln which was
uncovered. They had collapsed. The expedition plans
to enlarge the excavation area somewhat in 2012 in
order to detect all the remains of this kiln. This dish-
making kiln is different from the other kilns detected
in Azerbaijan thus far. Therefore, it is necessary to
investigate it precisely. Only one type of dish was
detected in this kiln, just as a master potterer would
make the same type of dish to fulfil a certain order. It
seems that the manufacture of the dishes in this kiln
was unfinished and they remained there. A few parts
of the dishes remained undamaged (Fig.6). These
finds indicate that black-coloured dishes were not
made at the same time as red-coloured dishes in the
same kiln. A different degree of heat was required in
the kilns for each of these colours.
Wine cellar
The opening of the whole area of the warehouse
belonging to the 4th-3rd centuries BC under the oval-
planned building II in the excavation area III aroused
great interest (Fig.7-9). Thus, until now, a warehouse of
this size was unknown in an archaeological expedition
in Azerbaijan. Even throughout the whole Caucasus re-
gion, such a warehouse was unknown to us. In this ware-
house, food products were kept in multiple household
pitchers integrated in pits in which the lower parts were
excavated in a row.
The remains of nearly 100 pitchers were investi-
gated in the warehouse in the previous excavation year.
This warehouse lost its importance in the 3rd century
BC. Many parts of the pitchers were unusable. That is
why pitchers which were suitable for use were taken to
use again, and the broken parts of the pitchers left be-
hind were kept in situ, their storage area was smoothed
out and new buildings were erected there. The pitchers
