MTM Clear Aligner
MTM
®
Clear Aligner combines chairside techniques
with advanced digital modeling to offer clinicians a
reportedly streamlined solution for treating minor
anterior misalignments. It utilizes a proprietary “open
pathway” architecture that allows teeth to move easily
into the desired positions. Also, MTM Clear Aligner
does not require bonding attachments to the patient’s
teeth to achieve movement; instead, it applies
integrated “force points” to provide a wider range of
tooth movements, as well as allowing for easier aligner
placement and removal.

leverages an elongated bezel to provide steep declination angles for
improved ergonomics, plus each loupe offers high-def nition resolu-
tion for enhanced visual acuity and better procedural outcomes.
Additionally, a clean brushed metallic f nish and small prof le make
for pleasing esthetics. The loupe is available for all Orascoptic frame
models and can be conf gured as a through-the-lens or f ip-up
option that employs a new ergonomic hinge.

December 2014
Those who brought us
big innovation in 2014
Meet the people behind some of the year’s best
products, dental companies.

Dr. James DiMarino knows that proper daily
patient homecare remains a key step in sensitivity
treatment and the fight against dental decay and
gingivitis. Patient compliance and ease of use can
make or break a successful treatment plan. Safety
considerations with high levels of fuoride, multiple
product usage, and taste can compromise even the
best intentions of good home care. In addition,
multiple oral health challenges can complicate the
process. So, when Bill McHale, Premier Dental’s
Senior Vice President of Product Development,
invited Dr. DiMarino to join the Premier team, he
did not hesitate.
DiMarino, DMD, MSEd., Director of Clinical
Affairs for Premier Dental Products Co., has been
involved with the development of Enamelon Preven-
tive Treatment Gel for some time. The product was
launched earlier this year, but he has long known about
the science behind some of the product’s many benefts.
“I am very passionate about Enamelon,” said Dr.
DiMarino. “I had success with the 1990s’ sodium
fuoride version which provided a reduction in sen-
sitivity and enhanced caries control. The ingredients
that made that toothpaste so successful are in Premier’s
new, stannous fuoride Enamelon which is also formu-
lated to deliver Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (ACP).
Premier’s team of developers has taken the proven tech-
nology of ACP and made it better by utilizing stannous
fuoride and adding Ultramulsion
®
, mucoadhesive co-
polymers and Spilanthes: a unique combination that
increases substantivity, naturally stimulates salivation
and creates a great mouth-feel.”
The new product uses less fuoride than 5000 ppm
fuoride toothpastes yet is formulated to deliver greater
protection. Enamelon Preventive Treatment Gel is
described as the new standard of caring, a safe alterna-
tive to 5000 ppm fuoride toothpastes and remineraliz-
ing pastes. It uses the clinically proven active ingredient
stannous fuoride in the fght against caries, gingivitis
and for sensitivity relief. Additionally, the patent-pend-
ing formula of Enamelon utilizes the remineralizing
technology of ACP to deliver greater fuoride uptake
into the enamel and to protect against demineralization.
“The sodium fluoride, 5000 ppm fluoride tooth-
pastes primarily protect against caries, whereas the
stannous fuoride Enamelon helps to prevent caries,
gingivitis and relieve sensitivity,” said Carol Landis,
Senior Product Manager. “What is particularly excit-
ing is that independent in-vitro research is showing that
Enamelon provides greater results with 80 percent less
fuoride than 5000 ppm fuoride products. You can
safely dispense Enamelon Preventive Treatment Gel to
your entire patient population for daily, long-term use
when following the 2014 ADA toothpaste guidelines.”
The gel also delivers sensitivity relief and is non-
abrasive to safely treat teeth while minimizing enamel
wear, which is especially helpful for patients with sen-
sitivity, erosion and thin enamel.
“It is important that dental professionals help
patients fnd the right products that maximize tooth
preservation as well as protection when choosing a
daily home use dentifrice,” Dr. DiMarino said.

tive Treatment Gel, as well as on Premier Dental’s

Enamelon’s many benefts.
