ABSTRACT 
 
XX. The persecution and oppression of the Muslim-Turkish population in the region by the Bolshevik and 
Armenian  Dashnaks  in  the  South  Caucasus  at  the  beginning  of  the  century  turned  into  massacres  over 
time. In order to eliminate these interventions, the Ottoman Empire ensured the formation of an army that 
would  later  be  called  the  "Caucasian  Islamic  Army".  The  Caucasian  Islamic  Army,  formed  under  the 
leadership of Nuri Pasha, took action towards Azerbaijan and advanced to Baku, establishing order in the 
Caucasus, albeit temporarily. The peace and tranquility achieved in a short time by the Caucasian Islamic
