2. T HE B ASICS Enrolment It is essential that you complete online enrolment each year. Once you’ve completed enrolment you will be issued with your Cardiff University Student ID Card and have access to University facilities.
Details of School enrolment can be found at the following web page: http://www.astro.cardiff.ac.uk/teachingandlearning/enrolment/ You should ensure that you enrol on 120 credits each academic year at the appropriate level of study.
Your Student ID card is very important and should be carried with you at all times. The card has a number of uses, it is your: •
library card, •
security card to gain entry to various University buildings, •
proof of identity. If your card is lost or stolen you will need to visit the Security Centre on Park Place to get a replacement, for which there is a small fee.
You are required to pay tuition fees, or provide evidence of sponsorship, for each year of your programme. Further information about how to pay your tuition fees and more general information on fees can be found at: https://intranet.cardiff.ac.uk/students/support-and-services/money/tuition-fees Ask Cardiff Ask Cardiff is your one-stop shop for helping you to solve any queries you may have or resolve any issues. You can access a wide range of frequently asked questions to help you find the answer or contact a member of staff on issues such as your enrolment, your student record and your exams and results.
You will be provided with a username and password for your University network account at Induction in Year 1. This gives access to all University IT facilities, including email and Learning Central (an electronic depository of lecture notes, exercises, solutions etc.). Contact can be made with the team through Laboratory Technicians or through the staff in the General Office.
The Student Information Management System (SIMS) is our tool for managing all student records. As well as being the main portal through which you enrol, choose modules and pay fees, the system also enables the University to store the following information: •

Your academic information/academic history, •
